In your Celica? That motor is horribly underpowered for a heavy ass celica. Even if you do manage to get a DLI GZE from a AE101 (165-170PS/163bhp) its still nothing special. They max out at ab 170-180whp when extensively modified....unless of course you go turbo route. Why not swap a 3S for alittle more? even a BEAMS 3S would out power a heavily modded GZE in a celica and it doesnt need a turbo to do it.

its a good motor, but not enough power. like others are saying, the 3sgte or 3sge would be a better alternative. i used to have a 6th gen celi and i was gonna do this swap. heres a really good site to learn about the swap if you are interested. www.6gc.net just do a search for it. The people are really friendly too.

the 3sgte is so much to put in,the 4agze drops right in...all i would need is to wire it up..my celica weighs 2600-2700 pounds, didnt know that was alot....and since im pushing 105hp,170hp would be like driving a SLR Mclaren....i also want a automatic tranny(dont judge me,lol)and all i can find for 3sgte is 6speeds......also i was planning changing the 4agze from S/C to Turbo..

but any input to help me is great, thanks.

2700Lbs for a 1.6 liter is excessive, but not too out there. The motor was meant for AE92/AE101 Corollas which weigh in at a whopping 2300-2400lbs and are still slow stock. the earlier Largeport GZE in the MR2's fairs a bit better in a much lighter chassis, even only making 145hp. What motor do you have now? 5S? It would be 163hp and about ~135whp...so for all that money you're only gaining 30hp....the Tq would be the only thing i can see that you would benefit from...the GZE is a tq monster for how small it is, but a 1.2 liter positive displacement Supercharger will do that lol. I cant really judge you for wanting the motor and they are much easier to find in Auto and always being in boost tend not to lack the spunk the manuals have. The only thing about the auto tranny is that it isnt built to handle much power. So with the turbo swap you have planned you will be very limited on power vs. reliability. I say if you really wanna do it, then go for it. I always respect ppl for trying different things. Hell i drive a 1.3 turbo mini car lolol

i have a the 1.8L 7afe,which makes 110hp,so going to a 1.6L would drop some weight too.

and since my Celica ST has a A series motor it will drop right in,u can even use the celica tranny(but im not)...im not looking to have a monster drag car, just something that has some bite when u need it.

LOL dude thats a ST205 GT-4. that is a Gen III 3SGTE. Why not just change your mounts out to the GT-S 3SGE/5S mounts we go here in the US and drop the 3SGTE right in? The 4agze was never meant for your car  ...also the auto GZE tranny will not handle 200whp. For the money you would spend turbo'ing the GZE to make even 200whp you could swap in the 3S with a custom wiring harness and still make more power stock compared to modified. Also, the Auto 5S tranny would hold out to those stock 3SGTE power figures, it would also be much more reliable.

As far as your Gen Celica is concerned the GT version (the highest available trim level in the states for that model) only came with the 5SFE (130hp/165tq). The 2.2 liter version of the 3SGE/3SFE. It has the same mount set. The Previous Gen Celica to yours recieved as a "GTS" badged car a 3SGE (160hp/145tq) and under the ALL-Trac Badge a 3SGTE(200hp/200tq). All of which can be fitted to your car with 5S mounts. All the wiring is there for your car, you'll just need a harnes converion or possibly just run a straight US Gen II 3SGTE from an All-trac/SW20 MR2. Its all pretty straight foward, seeing as your car was meant for the 3SGE/GTE platform.

there are Hundreds of these motors. buying an ST185 motor as opposed to a ST205 is going to be much cheaper and the japanese version still gets 225hp. All you would nee would be the 5S mounts and someone to make a harness for you like Pheonix Tuning guy in here. You could even pay alittle more and get a ST185 front clip and have everything you need to do the swap right infront of you

No its a 5th gen, but same basic motor. Less expensive. If you had a front clip you could most likely sell all the fenders/bumper etc to make back some money. You would have to get an ST205 Clip to fit all the body parts on your car. And yes a 5S tranny will mount to a 3S motor
