i have stock b16b swap with full exhaust and intake, i want purchase an intake manifold, aebs or skunk2, is the stock manifold allright, is a 65mm throttle body good enough, im also wanting to put the skunk pro series pro 2 cams in it, are those cams the way to go

im also probably going to go nitrous , whats a fair shot for the internals

why buy an aftermarket manifold when you have a type r?

thats why i asked, i wouldnt have posted this thread if i already knew the answer. so the ctr manifold is just as good as the skunk and the aebs

Damn homie, you dont have to get snappy!!!
Anywayz
I pretty sure those aftermarket manifolds are very copies the type r manifold with slight improvements.

^ buddy is right, the skunk 2 and aebs manifolds are pretty much replicas of the stock type R intake manifold, if you want a manifold with a bigger plenum and better intake velocity then go with the edelbrock IM's, throttle body size? keep the stock type R one as a bigger one wont really provide any noticeable gains. and skunk 2 pro 2 cams would be a good choice if your looking to spend the extra money for tuning and maybe even some higher compression pistons :goodjob: . . . btw im the guy that owns/drives the flat black coupe :D

The Edelbrock Victor-X manifolds suck for N/A Hondas though, only get them if you're boosting. With nitrous, stick with a 50 wet shot; don't go too much bigger cause I'm not sure how strong B16B internals are but my B16 spun a bearing spraying a 75 dry shot (weak).

B16's rod size vs. bearings and other small things yield it pretty strong (except in kevin's case) I would stick with a small shot because of your comp ration is a lil high.

i sprayed a 75 shot dry zex kit for 1 year with no problems and all i had was a 1st gen b16 , h,i e and msd basic ignition sci , and it was fine , so just buy cold plugs , retard timing 2 degrees only when ur spraying , and dont abuse it , and wet or dry will be fine , its ur call .

Thats bullshit, I know a guy right now by the name of Heywood J' Blowme and he is running a mild set up with a 50 shot right now ! LOL no but really I like to know why you say no to Nitrous on ctr pistons?

b16b pistons split the combustion flame into 2. not as volumetrically efficient, but not good for nitrous. puts a lot of stress on the piston.

"The pistons are a high-pressure die cast construction. This is the best way to make a cast piston. Since they are cast, they are not the best choice for a nitrous oxide-burning engine but they are excellent in all-motor applications."
they are too high of a comprrrrrrrrrrrrrrression lol

weak ringlands right?

So you can run a small turbo setup on these motors, but no nitrous? I find that hard to believe, but then again i am no certified mechanic.

the piston design is what makes it hard to boost. the CTR pistons have a HIGH DOME whihc creates a nice hotspot.
Adding boost or nitrous will just create an environment that is not safe. its also 10.8:1 compression with a cast piston with a high dome.

Actually we just looked at his block i think accidently wrote the wrong block code. It's crazy i didn't think honda would make mistakes like that.. Get the fuck out of here.

b16b pistons have a pent style top. limits the longevity of the motor but makes more power NA. nitrous/boost would severly reduce the life of the motor.
thanks for the reps, i returned some;)

To have a b16b and know you have one, I would not expect someone to be asking such uneducated questions. But I forget yall are not "certified mechanics."
