It didn't pull the premium like a SR20 would.

Is it built or what all was done to it(ka)? It should be just as quick as an sr with minor adjustment. it all depends on tuning.

It was stock with a apc intake and exhaust. It felt slow though. :dunno:

well the full engine management system will give u more control over aspects of the engine. things that a mere afc can not do. usually u switch to the engine management system when u start getting into the big upgrades. as u can adjust more options and get the engine running correctly. i always think standalones are worth it if u have any substantial mods. but i always like to do things once and not blow up an engine....

I have the Megasquirt and other than being able to control every single thing that my car can do, I don't see the need for it. Unless you are racing all the time you don't need it. Too much can go wrong. I would stick with what you have.

As for KA's. They are cool in their own way. In my opinion though they feel clunky. They don't feel as smooth as the SR. They are more expensive to build than an SR as well. I would swap to an SR soon as you get the chance.

a standalone engine management/fuel management system will always overpower a piggy back unit like the safc or safcII or whatever, because you can control and fine tune more specific aspects of your motor that a piggy back unit just cannot do, the key to making power is tuning and obviously with a better engine management system you can tune better thus more power a better powerband :goodjob:

Ka-t's r the shit, id much rather rock that then an sr20. if ur planning on doin alot of shit to the car (motor wise) then yea get a stand alone. if ur going to just do somple boltons then ur probably not goin to need it

afc is fine up to 300whp, anything past that you better have pistons or KABLOOEY

I'll cosign that sentiment. Its really really really nice in that your car becomes infinitely tunable, but the downside is that it is infinitely tunable. Remember, that a car is as only as good as its tuning. Thus, if you are not prepared to dig into the metal, do research and learn about your vehicle, it may not be for you. You will learn ALOT, but ALOT can go wrong. IF you are brave enough to learn your way through it and repair it, then fine. Do it. If not, keep what you have.

Also, learn from my mistakes. Don't MS your daily!!!!!

It was reliable for me, but too much can go wrong and you will tend to become overly cautious with tuning. You won't make much progress or learn then. DOn't be afraid to break the thing.
