Worst/Best sounding cars

I searched and there has been a thread similar to this about Best sounding cars alone, but what I'm wondering, what about the bad sounding ones also?
Personally I think probably higher than 90% of Hondas, (especially civics) can sound pretty damn awful, I was driving behind an Integra the other day that honestly sounded dead on like a weed-eater, like.. DEAD ON, no exageration at all. As for best, I'm not really sure, some Porsches are pretty damn hot sounding.

Yeah, thats what I'm saying. For example - a dead stock WRX sounds ok and all, but with a nice full exhaust.. DAMN they can sound hot as hell.

I have to say that the best sounding 4 banger has to be (with a good exhaust) is the Honda K series i-VTEC.

I have a mix of cars/engines that sound good as far as aftermarket exhaust notes go for the 6 cylinders. I've always loved the Snarl of the VW Vr6. I've also loved the sound the K series Mazda V6 best, especially after 7k rpm. BMW's are ok, I like the vr6 exhaust note better. Porsches are just insane. Honda makes great engines, I think the NSX V6 could've sounded better. And Another exhaust note that gets forgotten, the Hyundai 2.7L V6 (tiburon)

V8's, SBC's with a borla or magnaflow, Any Ferarri V8, And that BMW M5....... Damn, I just got chill bumps......

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the worst. Even with the best exhaust available, I think a D17 Honda and GM 2.2L ohv (S10, cavalier and Sunfire engine) is among the worst sounding 4's.

Blackshine's 626 sounded awesome...nice and metallic, almost like an M3. :yes:

There's a blue E60 M5 that I've seen in the Atlanta/Buckhead area that sounds AMAZING. It has some sort of aftermarket exhaust...it's great.

I love GM's LS-series engines...well, lots of V8's for that matter. The SVT Cobra's sounds great especially with the supercharger. Even Volvo's new V8 engines sound great. I also like the FX45's V8 note.

Anyone ever heard the new Eclipse V6s? Very nice. Also can't forget the Subaru boxer engines.

My SAAB on the other hand doesn't sound so great. It sounds nice from the exhaust pipe, but from the cabin, it sounds like an angry vacuum cleaner. The turbocharger is the only saving grace. That thing SHRIEKS.

I also like turbo diesel engines...those always sound cool.

Japanese - STi/WRX (I know I'm biased, but a boxer engine + unequal length headers = sex).

European - Ferrari, really any of them.

American - Any old school carbureted v8 with a nice free flowing exhaust

The challenge F355 definitely has a nice tone though!

For street legal cars the CGT and Enzo by far have the nicest sound but the F40 will still give you a hard on :tongue:

At those flanges right at the diff take out both bolts on each then rebolt it with one bolt so the inner hole of the muffler side is bolted to the outer side of the flange...you now have no mufflers with no rattles and just takes 2 or 3 minutes to do with a ratcheting box end ;)

It dosent rattle like that in real life I told you it was a very shitty video cause it distorts the sound alot. I will get another when I can get ahold of my friends digital camera.

And after going back and looking at the video for the 876432586254 time I can see where you would say that is exhaust rattle. And it is not. Just the crappy sound quality of the camera.

It's not entirely loud but at about 3k rpms it has a drone that WILL set off car alarms at least 50 feet away, oops :ninja:

00 Rusty mentioned it, SimonTibbet, allierae and a few others on here will vouch to its orgasmic decibles.

I loved riding through parking lots setting off car alarms at IDLE.

Simon, straight-pipe porsches sound like old, stock straight-pipe trucks...not so good.

The 350z and G35 does sound decent factory and even better with borla.

Several don't like the EVO, but 00 Rusty will vouch for the white one at the track that night-it sounded awesome and roasted all four.

STI's with aftermarket cams sound good.

Cummins Straigh-Pipe...there are sooo many more

00 Rusty does have a good example of a bad exhaust (and did on the neon too) but will hopefully soon have it fixed.

The idles are similar, but I like the way the 20B sounds better. The car in the vid I posted has a 13G.


The main difference between the 13G and 20B is that the 13G uses a factory peripheral intake port (used for racing) and the 20B uses side intake ports.

Obviously you have to consider modifications but based on BPU i would say:


As far as 'easily' attainable vehicles.


Mustangs are known to have an unmatched exhaust sound - GT, Cobras etc.


Hondas are known to have a bad rep. when it comes to exhaust notes lol. The sound the engine produces while "in VTEC" is great.

VQ powered Nissans sound great as well.
