View Full Version : TO THOSE LOOKING FOR A JOB

my company is hiring people 24/7 and always looking for more. and people are always here looking for a job. so this may help you, and me. if you put my name on the application for a reference, ill cut you some $(QT pays me to refer you). my name is Michael Fuller. if you get hired as a clerk, ill give you $25. if you get hired as an assistant, ill give you $100. simple as that. simply go to ANY QT and fill out an application.
I work at QuikTrip. gas station, yes. worthwhile career/job-better believe it. just depends what you want to do. here are some entry level positions and descriptions.
Part Time Clerk: works X amount of hours per week according to your schedule. starts at 8.50/hour. start accruing customer service bonus after 6 months(usually about 175-300 per month depending on store), elgible for benefits, and im quite certain you start accruing paid vacation after 2 years. receive a anniversary bonus every 6 months that is based upon the amount of hours worked in that 6 months, ie:
first 6 months= .20 cents per hour
second 6 months= 75 cents per hour?
after 1 year= 1.55 per hour
and i think, after 2 year, is 1.75 per hour.
so if you worked 800 hours in a 6 month period after 1 year experience, your bonus would be about $1500. essentially, you are getting a raise every 6 months. and it would be like that every 6 months. a nice chunk of change for a student or someone who needs flexible scheduling.
Full Time Clerk: gets all the perks of an assistant manager while still not being an assistant manager. works 40 hours per week, set weekly schedule, gets customer service bonus immediately, starts earning store profit bonuse after 6 months, paid vacation, paid sick leave, 401k, gets 80 cents raise after 6 months. starts at 9.30 per hour i believe.
Assistant Manager: there are 2 types of entry level assistant managers, both average starting pay is 40k/year, benefits are effective immediately, 401k, bonuses are effective immediately, paid vacation+paid sick leave effective immediately, 46 hours per week average. ill list both here:
Night Assistant Manager: works 5 overnights per week, friday through tuesday, 1030pm-8am, minimum 46 hours per week. base starting pay hourly is 10.72 i believe, but you get multiple bonuses(customer service and store profit bonus, attendance bonus). and after 6 months most people get a raise to 11 something, then 12 something.
Relief Assistant Manager: works 2 mornings, 1 evening, and the 2 overnights that the night assistant is off. i forget the exact schedule, but your weekend schedule is pretty nice!base starting pay hourly is 10.72 i believe, but you get multiple bonuses(customer service and store profit bonus, attendance bonus). and after 6 months most people get a raise to 11 something, then 12 something. minimum 46 hours per week.
in any position: you can ALWAYS pick up extra hours if you are looking for them easily by means of store paging system. you can send out pages to all stores in the atlanta division or just the ones in your area. we train you, and you get paid regularly to be trained for 2 weeks. direct deposit:yes: . it owns.
depending on how well you want to do, the next step of assistant managers is a 2nd Assistant manager(id say about 45k). they work 0 overnights, get paid more hourly and a higher percentage of store profit bonus. the next step is a 1st assistant manager(id say about 50k). again, more hourly, higher profit percent, and they get weekends off! next step is store manager. weekends off and about 70k/year on average. a good, hustling employee could make it from assistant manager to manager in 2 years or so.
i started as a part time clerk. in under 3 months i got promoted to a full time clerk overnights. in under 2 months i got promoted to extra relief(where i am now). i spent 2 months on extra relief and now im sitting on the promotion list to be an assistant manager. total time-7 months to go from part time clerk to assistant manager. and some people do it even faster.
the only requirement to move up is that you do well. there is nothing based upon age or experience.
this company is no joke, even if you start at the bottom, there are endless ways to move up if you want to. ive worked for 18 year old assistant managers making 40k/year and driving brand new cars off the lot lol. still having trouble? lets put things in perspective. im 20 years old with a GED, i make 30k+/year and have my own apartment and 2 cars. and im getting ready to be promoted again. fortune top 20 best companies to work for, for a reason.
all comments/feedback/questions are welcome.

is it better to actually come in to apply vs. online with QT? I know some places are like that, some aren't.

honestly, im pretty sure it doesnt make a difference. all applications are forwarded to the corporate office where interviews are conducted. however i prefer to hand them in in person(thats just me). since they have to go to corporate though, it might actually be faster to do them online. try www.quiktrip.com (http://www.quiktrip.com)

not hating, just saw what looked like an inconsistancy. it's admirable that you have things of your own, unlike many at your age. i've heard from many that QT is great to work at. im actually looking for a second job right now, but dealing with customers isn't really my thing.

it is helpful. but i dont think it is required. nights is not so bad. it just depends where you work. since youre new, theyll put you somewhere that isnt so busy and you will be by yourself from about 1215-550am. the work is simple, you just clean coffee pots and shit and are responsible for the money handling and having the usual morning stuff ready for the customers(breakfast sandwiches, coffee..), supervising the morning clerks from about 6-730 or 8. a lot of people dont like it because they have a family and kids to deal with and they say they dont see them a whole lot since they have to sleep during the day. you get another bonus like every 6 months of 500.
but it is peaceful at night. it is extremely rare that qt gets robbed.
Sorry, but that was funny. Later, QD.
i dont care. i like my cars. it is either 2 dd or 1 very nice newer car. i kinda prefer the cheaper 2. full coverage insurance owns my ass. just tryin to help some people find a job.

i applied online. apparently it wont help you if you apply in person so whatever. ive got a job but i dont particularly like it, but its not horrible. i just feel like i could do better somewhere else doing something that would challenge me. and authority rules.....
man its better having 2 older cheap cars. i know.... ive had 2 cars since i was 17 and its great... one takes a shit.... fix it while driving the other.... if you dont have the cash immediately no sweat cuz you got another ride. get liability only ins. and for 2 its still cheaper that full cov. on one. keep it up...
redundancy... its not a bad thing

It doesn't matter whether you apply online or in person.
What matters is WHO you know when your applying. If you know somebody that actually has some pull (long time store manager, etc), best to hand it in to them, or let them know when you submit your online app. so they can make sure it gets looked at. Best way to get on.

It took me two times to apply there and I did it online. But after the second time they called me about a week later and then after the interview about 3 days later. So not that hard to get hired at QT..:goodjob: I didn't like my manager so I left, I know I could've transferred but he was a true asshole so I said fuck it. But the work isn't hard, pretty easy stuff for the pay.

Lawl my brother works at QT as a full time clerk, if he got promoted to assistant manager he would make less money. He works at the one off Pleasant Dale which is the 1st or 2nd busiest store in Georgia. His bonus base every month is like $130,000 every month, so if he got promoted to a different store he wouldn't make as much money, har har har.

not gonna lie about the pleasantdale store. 130k/week in profit is a fat chunk of change for a bonus. i would love to be based out of there. but if he was an assistant at that store, he would make more $ since it would be a higher percentage of 130k+. even as a clerk his profit bonus alone would be about 700+.
btw youre talking about matt right? i know him. he had the wrx. you have a vette? or a hatch? i dynod that bitch for you back when i was an emissions inspector ;) its hilarious how a honda without a cat will still pass my inspection:ninja:

not true. guess where those long time store managers turn in the apps, corporate, where the application itself and the the interview are all under review by the personnel manager before they decide to hire you. if you are good friends with the manager, he might be able to get you an interview. and i stress might. and still, the interview is all up to you then. and yes, the interview is graded quite thoroughly. just be very personable and confident and you have nothing to worry about.

I worked for QT for over 2 years.
When i took my app in back when i was 17, the manager made a phone call and setup my interview before my app even made it into the corporate office.
So yeah, it is true.
Trust me i know how qt works pretty well. Extra relief and being a facilitator showed me many things.

not true. they will ask you how far you are willing to travel and asign you 1 store within that range. if you dont want to move they wont move you. if you hate your manager for some reason you can ask to be moved and theyll usually move you.
i go to a different store on a daily basis becaus i choose to, thats my job. i get paid significantly more to do it. or hell, just let me know when youre in training.

Thats called Extra Relief.
Get up in the morning, call in, and see who needs you. Sometimes you still end up at your store (doubled up), but basically they tell you where to go, and you go.
Sucks if your bad with directions, otherwise as long as your car is reliable its not too bad. Generally you do this when you are trying get promoted, becuase you get exposure to all kinds of managers and different stores.

they called me the next day after my interview, its usually pretty fast. but if they said 10-14 days then i guess thats what they mean. there are certain days for orientation and i think they like to interview as many people as possible inbetween orientations, then make their calls back as orientation day gets closer. i think its once every 2 weeks, so 10-14 days would sound about right.

as soon as i get a paypal address or real address i will be sending thru paypal or personal check.
i keep seeing 'need a job' threads, and i am always here to try and help. apply and put me as a reference and i will give you $25 for a part time position and $100 for an assistant manager position if you get hired.

Don't you get the bonus after they grad. training? Anyways, I work for QT too. Hope you find someone to apply for the asst. manager positions b/c then you'll make some serious money.

assistants do. part time clerks get customer service bonus only after 6 months. usually 200+/month. store profit bonus varies from store to store.
what store/position? i just got stationed at 791 as a NA

I'm an ER/FTC based out of 766. I was actually talking about the referal bonus thing. I believe that even though they get hired and if they don't complete training, you don't get the referal bonus. I've been avoiding a promotion for the longest. My manager keeps asking me when will I be ready for a real man's job. I'm just not ready to give up my weekends just yet. :D And plus, I'm already getting 400+ a month in bonuses. 700+ during the summer months.

X2 Thats for ****ing real some customers are ****heads
Well customers can be a pain, but being with a good growing company is always nice :D . I mean. I work at Kroger. I make 9.60 an hour, with all the benefits u can think of 401k and all that. U start incurring vacation time after ur first year and u always get at least 16 hours. Plus... your part of a union (gotta love Ohio for that) and u will get a raise every 3 months. 15-75 cent. Depending upon total experience. U may start low... but u can always go up, especially if ur at the right store.
