so my brohter owns a 93' NA 300zx, and whenever he pushes it hard smoke comes out from under the car. its defenitely coolant, smells nothing like oil. we checked the rad hoses and they were fine, water pump is fine. so my final guess is heater hoses. so as far as i know theres a valve the allows the hot water/coolant to run to the heater core, so the problem is before that valve because no one is crazy enough to have the heat on in this weather.

so my ? is, how can i check the lines?

any1 know where they are?

can they be bypassed?

any ideas would help.

its an NA, it looks like its somewhere between the engine and the firewall.

Is it a white steam, not smoke? Im not an expert on N/A Z's but it sounds like coolant is hitting one of the exhaust manifolds, I beleive they are in close proximity to coolant lines. VG30's have a lot of random water lines in that area.

I had a similar prob on my TT, took forever and a day to get to and replace the busted line.

yea i guess steam is a much better way to describe it, i could bet a nut is the lines that go back to the heater. from what i hear there in between engine and firewall which is where the steam is coming from. it must be a bitch to get to them.

Yeah, the 300zx is not a knuckle freindly automobile.
Fun to drive, a pain to work on.
