Last night I was driving down peachtree industrial right before lawrencville-suawnee rd, and this asshole came right up behind me. He changed lanes real fast and overcorrected turning back into my side drivers side. This spun me out and put me into the grass divider. The driver decided he didnt want to stay. Well, a couple decided to follow him and got his information. The police confirmed that my description of a white toyota tundra matched the plates and everything. How serious do the cops take this shit. Will they go after this guy? I think he was drunk but that is just and assumption. Im pretty sure my prelude is totaled. It will be close because i need a new quarter panel, bumper, and door. The car is probably worth around like $3500.

You should get a call from the officer that will take care of your case with in a few days. If you didn't get the name of the officer that is going to take care of you, you should call back and find out.

The authorities will definately go after the guy, especially if your insurance has anything to do about it.

Also if you have uninsured motorist on your insurance, Ga state law requires YOUR insurance to pay for the bills, car to get fixed or replaced. Thats only if you cant find the dumbass.

Im not sure about the whole insurance thing but im pretty sure Im covered. At least the rep. on the phone was talking like I did. They are going to appraise my car tomorrow. BUT, I will have the other guy's insurance information on the police report. The cop said i will be able to file a claim against him. He shouldnt have stopped at a BP a mile up the road. Too bad the guy who followed him and took his tags was too scared to confront him.

If that damage is as much as the car is worth it will get totaled, but if not you will get the check to fix your cars damage.

3800 to fix. the car is worth 3200. It is totaled. The insurance company still has to give official word though.

One word: Felony - hit and run and fleeing the scene of an accident. If he is found to be drunk, other charges can be added.

Shit, I wish you had my number. I work out at the Golds Gym right there and live about 2 miles from there. Shit, you okay?

Let us know about the police report, his insurance, etc. Wow.

You can do a civil suit against him if they find him, insurance or not. :) If he has a new(er) Tundra, he probably has assets that you can go after.

Yeah im fine. It was a good thing that there was a big grassy area for me to slide into. If i was on the interstate then I might not be here. If you followed the person leaving the scene as they stopped at a gas station wouldnt you be inclined to confront him? I cant wait until his insurance company calls him asking about claim filed against him.

I would have, but that's just me. Then again, maybe the guy was big and the person that was following him was intimidated? Maybe it was a woman that confronted him? Who knows.

At least you are okay. Did the police get him? Arrest? What information did the person get? Just his license plate? Also, what time of day did this happen and on what day?

Heh, I know that BP rather well.

It was night time. I have been looking at the gwinnett arrest thing and so far no one was arrested for hit and run. he was 6'2 red hair, and glasses. Late 90s-00s white toyota tundra single cab. there should be red paint somewhere on the passenger side fender or bumper. The guy stopped in the BP for a newspaper. I wouldnt doubt if he was drunk. Saturday night at 8:41 (yea im that precise) is when the accident occured. I was lucky and got pulled out of the ditch by some guys in a truck so i didnt have to pay a tow truck or anything.

Hmmm, 8:41pm? He might not have been drunk, but then again, maybe he was. That's early to be drunk, but I guess that doesn't stop some rednecks. ;)

Just check with the Suwanee cops and see what they say. I believe that they would be handling the situation. Then again, it might be Sugar Hill. That area is sorta between the cities.

Good news. Today i got my police report, and I was able to file a claim against his insurance, now im just waiting on the appraiser to call me. For an accident that happened about 45 minutes away it pretty CRAZY that he lives 3 MILES down the road. I have been by his house to get pics of his truck. The damn thing was backed in the driveway exposing all of the damage to the road. My dad even went to his door and asked the guy what he was thinking. The guy didnt have anything to say.

I would advise not talking to the guy until everything is settled and paid out. You don't want something that you (or your father) does to come back to you if you have to file suit/go to litigation.

Just keep that in mind.

I tried to stop him but he just went anyways. His insurance is not putting up a fight. We are just waiting for a call from the appraiser.

*sigh* That's fine, just try to keep it on the downlow. You don't want him to file a civil suit for harassment or something like that.

With that said, what are the police doing?

Well lets see we have called the dectective three times no answer and his voicemail is full. I think we are gonna go down to the station and talk to someone if we cant get in touch tomorrow. I was told to stay on top of the police so that they actually take action.
