ry-sist; noun, adjective : the act of having discrimination towards vehicles with unnecessary modifications
Or are you apart of this growing trend of the new age ricer? Do you roll in clicks of the same meaningless group of me too mobiles that carelessly do nothing but clog the road up of noise pollution and excessive speeding, not to mention excessive pollution? Can you actually differentiate your car from the next person's car? If so, can your friends, or better yet, your parents actually tell the diffence between your car and the other person's car? Do you have a million stickers followed by the the 3 letter acronyms to every bit of mod that has been done to your car? Do you have useless modifications done to your car which is deemed only useful on a racetrack? Or how about endless modifications done to your vehicle, so irreversible to your car that it basicly illegal to drive on the street and you have to bribe the proper people just to keep it on the road? If so, you are part of a newer trend of rice, but on a different level. A level so advanced, that it goes perfectly in que with the "fast and furious" crowd. If this describes you, then congradulations, you're apart of the new age term "rice". But if you just so happen to have a vehicle that defies tradition, a vehicle, that yes, can still pass emissions under it's own good will, and be faster than it originally was. It's looks are fairly mediocore to the untrained eye, but look a little bit further and it's further more advanced than you've ever thought it to be. Something that cries "I'm different" yet no matter how it looks, it still has that appeal to it that makes it a step different from anyone else. A car that's devoid of the big cannon style exhaust. Oh, and especially the ones that have the useless curve out the side aka JDM tyte bend (some cars, that's the straightest way of getting free flow exhaust, others is just ricey) which is possibly rendering performance. To those guys who's car is visually unaltered to the basic state of just a set of aftermarket rims and slight suspension lowering, only to increase the visual statement of your car and slightly help with performance. You are ricist. You're not following the trend of all the new age ricers that we currently live amongst. To those who completely defy the new age ricer tradition and live to be different, you are ricist too, just like myself. Congradutations.
Who else whould consider themselves to be ricist? Who's offended by my thread? Comments and suggestions are welcome.

The point is ovious. Worthless mods on a street driven car is ricey. You 4 corner balance a car that's main intent in life is for autoXing, not going to work and back getting abused by pot holes redlights and stops signs and such. Or dropping the car to the point that you can't go over speed bumps. Ricey.

Basicly, look at it as this, being ricist is having discrimination towards vehicles with unnecessary modifications. They may or may not make a bunch of power. But for a day to day driven car, it's rediculous

well i did mine just the way i like no kits and minus the diy primer job everything is made for one purpose and one purpose only a street legal ass whuppin machine. If it doesnt have a purpose to improve performance it isnt going in this car. I'd rather rice out a dd just for the hell of it but that teg has work to do

Depends. Can I go on google right now and do a search on a car that looks exactly like yours with the same mods and basicly the same exhaust? Is it quick, but with a pointlessly loud exhaust?
alot of people say that they like so called "clean cars" which in some cases mean stock cars.. But the truth is that they dont have the funds to do what they really want so they settle with the bare minimum and call it "clean"...

I was gonna meantion something about that in the case of trucks too. Especially with the jacked up frames well beyond safety standards, Off road Mud tires on public roads. That's (lack of a better term) ricey too

i've seen plenty of tastfully modded civics with nice lip kits, blackhoused headlights, decent exhausts...that have just a CAI on the motor, which happens to be a sohc non-vtec motors.
Would you call that rice?

I ran one with a jdm B16a swap and burned him on top end. That guy sold it to some other guy and got back into mazdas. In fact, he's a member here that rarely posts, but is always watching

I am a ricist...I can't stand pointless cosmetic mods that make your car look stupid. Why have a A/F gauge on a stock Lancer with your mods being "Intake, Exhaust and ground wires" LOL

I agree and disagree with this post. I spoke with sunshine on it already. Some mods, have a point, others may seem pointless to some and others are just pointless all the way round.
As for having a car that barely can squeek past emissions, I wouldn't really classify that as ricist. My car can damn near go that way, as I have to spend about 2-4 hours a year on a dyno to re-tune just to make the damn thing pass the sniffer test. IF you want big power, you've got to break a few eggs. (and i'm not even to that point yet)
However, the huge wings, billions of stickers and painted drums (u only show it off if u do the disc conversion) is pointless.

Funny :blah:
I think out of all the cars that's out, yours, and Miles is one of my favorites. You would drive right past it and wouldn't have a clue what's going on under the hood. Well, Miles on the other hand, It's straight foward and to the point and is a classic car that will still pass emissions. He drops in the smaller injectors and detune it, voila! Passes. And we're talking about a 10 second car here ladies and gentlemen
