I know this is an old thread and probably done to death, but humor me. So, who runs full standalone? Who plans on running full standalone and has all the stuff purchased? How do you like it? What kind of car is it in? Is it hard to pass emissions, and finally, what kind are you running?

I run a full stand alone. I control mine and have 8 different wires sitting on the now missing passenger side seat. If I want more power, I take 1 of the eight wires and I touch it to ground. If I want VTAKKK then I take 2 of the wires, tape them together and take a piece of bubblegum and stick it to the live power wire sitting just under the driver's seat with another wire going to ground. Talk about a kick in the ass. Beat that, BIOTCH!!! :tongue1:

Quit describing my old car. I was the only person to run around atlanta ever with chewing gum holding his wires together.

AEM on the Mustang. Full standalone that give 2 step, TC, N2O control, boost control, etc.
Haltechs on the FDs, except for one really built FD - that uses Motec and is controlled through an on-board touchscreen.
PC3Rs (A/F & T) on the bikes.

I was thinking of doing the onboard touchscreen thing. How well does that work?

I have an Apexi Power FC on my si with an itr motor in it. It starts up fine, hasnt left me stranded yet. I have the commander and datalogit as well. As for passing emissions, I got mine done friday. I unplugged it, plugged the stocker back in, let it run for 10 minutes and then took the test and passed. I didnt even have to put my stock injectors back on. (310's versus stock what like 270-290's?) I literally plugged the power fc back in infront of the guy and drove off. They have bad rep for daily drivability but I havent experienced one negative yet.

i use s300, some people say its not a real stand alone, but it does all the same stuff. I call it an internal stand alone because it takes over the whole ecu rather than fooling it.

I use S200 and I love it. She idles like stock and the engine runs like it was built that way from the factory.

meeeeeeeeee. i love it.
Its kind of a hairy bitch to make it pass emissions without an EGR and I have to re-map each year, but I get it to pass.

I had an old v1.1 B&G on my GSL-SE. Liked it. It worked for cheap, just didn't have an interface.

Electromotive Tec III here. not the most technologically advanced standalone available today but it gets the job done for fuel and spark management.

they've improved quite a bit. I'm running a version 3 with a pair of daughter cards for more advanced features and outputs. Runs very nice and handles my car pretty well. I can't complain.

I have messed with a couple of newer ones. They've improved a lot. Most of the guys have Haltech or AEM in my group. Motec is the nicest that I've dealt with though.

I"ve heard very good things about motec, and I've seen a few AEM running cars. The people who see mine mistake it for running AEM. I know some guys who run very successfully with Haltech. I hear that it is exceptionally easy to tune and setup.
