a homeboy of mine went to a gas station and got gas (89) from the pump, started driving the car to his destination and the shit started acting haywire, sputtering and shit, til it died. it turns out, when he walked 2.5 miles BACK station he got gas from, that the stupid ass tanker driver put DIESEL FUEL into the 89 underground fuel tank!!!! it's really fucked because he's been back and forth to the car since 8pm when the issue started, and i was called into work at 7pm, due to a callout, as opposed to the regular 11pm so i can't go get him.
any tech heads online right now, help me, help dude get his car at least started, this is what he's done so far.....
1) drained all the diesel from the tank...replacing it with REAL gas.
2) upon getting to a secondary car, went to autozone replacing the spark plugs
3) sprayed carbeurator cleaner to act as starter fluid thru the throttle body
4) checked the in-tank fuel pump to hear if it was functioning properly
5) when last talking to him(4 minutes ago), he was going to check the fuel rail/injectors to see if they were clogged.
oh, and ya, the station he went to is gonna have to pay for repairs/damages. i'm puttin him on it tomorrow.

It's gonna smoke like a bitch when he first gets it started....... but it will go away. If it didn't ruin the injectors.....

Get a shop to give him a quote and then let him fix it himself. That way he will have extra money to play around with.

^^Oil don't clean engines. Oil in gas causes petrol powered cars to smoke, if they actually run at all. I had to take the fuel pump and sending unit out of a '99 Lexus RX300 (saddle bag style gas tank) just to syphon the gas out of both sides. And after that, I had to purge the lines of diesel, change the spark plugs and replace the strainer on the fuel pump since it didn't have a fuel filter. I got paid real good for the job, but the customer was beating himself up for what he did the whole time. Not funny, but kinda funny
What gas station was it? If it's BP, speak to the manager as BP guarantee's they're gasoline.

thats happened a few times...wrong section but o'well
drain the fuel and put the correct fuel back in. try to get it out of the lines to the fuel rail(s) and try starting it up. Should take a second...also you might have to change the fuel filter...not sure
