well, the head gasket in my engine (b18c) blew on the dyno, it was a golden eagle head gasket with a 84mm bore, now im going back to cometic because it never gave me problems with my previous set up. (stock bore)
now my ? is which one to get??? i just checked on ebay and found out that cometic makes 84mm gaskets with different thickness, from stock 0.76mm all the way to 1.9mm.
im trying to push 30psi.

also, what would be the torque specs for the head pushing 30psi???

thanks.

Stay with Stock Thickness, Copper Gasket Spray works wonders on Head Gaskets too ;) .. Also I'm sure you have HeadStuds So go with the TQ Spec they give you.. If need be look them up on ARP's website.. My :2cents:

70 ft/lbs, make sure to RETORQUE AFTER 800 miles

get stock thickness which is roughly a 0.0290 in

Just get a standard MLS .030 gasket

yep

you could also get a crv headgasket and drill it for the oil passage for vtec.

800-1k miles for even after several heat cycles within a week. You shouldnt really have to retorque more than once, but i would check them for the hell of it anytime you pop the cams out. Sometimes when you go to retorque for the first time, nothing will have changed, but better safe than overheating.

yes, thats what happened, the car started overheating, i didnt let it go all the way up to the redline, but the coolant started to shoot back through the reservoir tank.
does that mean that the head lifted????
did i mess up something else????

how long has it been running, could have been a air pocket in the coolant passage but it sounds more like head lift. You might could retorque and still have a good headgasket.

Jose that shit gonna be fixed before tunerfest?

dont know, i have a wedding to go to this weekend.

so im just going to retorque the head and see if the coolant stays inside this time before buying a head gasket.

if its blown, its blown, retorquing now wont do you any good

the new set up just has 1000 miles. and since the dyno i have only drove it about 20miles that is the distance from balanced perf. to my house, stopping and turning the car off everytime that the temp. is about to hit the red mark.

the car turns on, and works just fine, if i keep it under 3k rpm the temperature stays normal, i let the car running in my garage for a good 30 minutes and the temp was normal but when i took it for a test drive and floored the gas the car jerks and shoots out the coolant and the temperature raises and just keeps bouncing up and down.

ok people, by retorquing the head, did you guys mean to lose all the 12 point nuts and retorque them? or just go over them and just check that they are at 70ft/pds?
