hey i am looking at getting a set of 5zigen fn01'er c'er/whatevers and i dont know how to calculate the offsets or anything, i was just wondering if someone could just recommend me a good offset that looks good.

i am looking at running 17x7 for the front
and i was wondering what is the widest tire that i can put on the back without it sticking out the side of the stock fender.....can i do a 17x9 on an s13??? i am looking for a good negative offset here for the rear!

oh ya also looking for the greatest negative offset for the back while having the widest tire possible...thx

go search offset calculator on google.
the stock s13 wheels are (i think) 6inch wide at +40. I assume you're 4 lug,
and the only 4 lug fn01rcs made are 17x7+35, 17x8+35, 17x9+20, I think, haven'tlooked at them in awhile. it's possible to run 17x9s with a +20ish offset, with 245 tires if you roll yur fenders AND run at a reasonable height.
don't go less than 7.5in wide imo, 7.5 inch wide with 225s or 8inch wide with 225s or 235s with offsets in the +20 to +30 range should fill the gap but not extend beyond the fenders. might want to take a look at other wheels, don't limit yourself to just the fns.

you are probably only going to find offsets between +35ish and +45ish for the 17x7s, which will look ok i guess.

for the rears, a +30 offset is about flush with the body. so if u go lower, it will stick out, if u go higher, it will be a little more inwards. about the tires, i wouldnt go wider than 255/45s

just keep in mind that unless you have crazy power, staggered wheels will make understeering in s13s even worse. one of the only s13s to ever make it to the autocross nationals in STS last year was riding 17x7.5s all around (the rules limit you to 7.5" but the point is that he had the same size wheels front and rear). but if you are going just for looks than it doesnt matter.

keep in mind your mileage may very, but as a general guide it can be done. but please don't run a 7 front 9 rear stagger. Do 8 front or 9 rear, better yet, just do 9 all around. It'll also depend on how wide the tire runs.

ok then, i am dealing with these offsets for the rear +15, +35
will a 17x9 +15 offset fit stock rear fenders?

and dealing with these offsets for the front +25, +35
will a 17x8 +25 offset fit stock front fenders?

17x9 +15 F / 17x10 + 12 R :)

you'll have to do a decent bit of fender rolling/pulling, but it's not that hard. whatever you do, don't get the wimpy low width/offset ones, you'll regret it down the road. making the 10's fit in the back would look a ton better, not only because of the added with, but the fact that they are the only ones that get the super cool concave face on them (see below). good luck, and just make sure you do lots of research before you buy anything (check zilvia.net and ziptied's wheel fitment threads for examples of what some of the more aggressive fitments on S13's are).

here's what the 10 looks like...

or a decent option that's not quite as aggressive, 17x9 all around...

hmm I'm not sure about the 17x9 +15 (it'll also depend on the tire) but I'd say a pull for safety. As for the 17x9 +35, I don't know about inner coilovers clearance, may be ok as the rears have more space inside than the fronts.
17x8 +25 will be a really great fit for the front, with 225 or 235 tires (rears 245 or 255). It will clear most coilovers and probably won't need roll or pull. Check zilvia.net, that site's full of offset/width/fender/tire posts.

well i plan on running the 225/45 on the 17x9 +15, you think i will need a pull?

Zilvia.net can probably answer with a quick search. Don't post though, they'll flame you to death, just search. From that picture of the white coupe, if a 10 +12 fit with just a roll, then yours should be fine.

that 10 in the back probably did not fit without a roll for the record (and maybe even a pull, but it's hard to tell from that pic).

i've got an s13 of the same year as the original thread poster, but picked up a pair of origin 50mm overfenders(rear)/25mm overfenders(front) and i've been looking for proper width to slap on my car as well. but i've got to do the 5lug swap, coils and install the body kit.

here is my old car with 17x9s +32, 255/45/17s (obviously the rears). nice and beefy, not stretched at all.

i'm pretty sure matt martin (drifter guy out of the northeast) is running those width fenders and has a mad gangster setup on his (18x10 +7mm front with 235/40/18's, and 18x12 +12mm rear with 265/35/18's). i'd go with something like that :). anything under a 10"/11" in the rear is gonna look hella sunk so just make sure you get something wide.

here's a shot of that setup:
