This may be a re-post but I don't think it can be posted enough.

Noise complaint at Luke AFB
Luke AFB is west of Phoenix and is rapidly being surrounded by
civilization that complains about the noise from the base and its
planes, forgetting that it was there long before they were.

A certain lieutenant colonel at Luke AFB deserves a big pat on the
back.

Apparently, an individual who lives somewhere near Luke AFB wrote the
local paper complaining about a group of F-16s that disturbed his/her
day at the mall. When that individual read the response from a Luke
AFB officer, it must have stung quite a bit.

The complaint:

"Question of the day for Luke Air Force Base: Whom do we thank for the
morning air show? Last Wednesday, at precisely 9:11 a.m., a tight
formation of four F-16 jets made a low pass over Arrowhead Mall,
continuing west over Bell Road at approximately 500 feet. Imagine our
good fortune! Do the Tom Cruise-wannabes feel we need this wake-up
call, or were they trying to impress the cashiers at Mervyns early
bird special? Any response would be appreciated."

The response:

Regarding "A wake-up call from Luke's jets" (Letters,
Thursday): On June 15, at precisely 9:12 a.m., a perfectly timed
four-ship flyby of F-16s from the 63rd Fighter Squadron at Luke Air
Force Base flew over the grave of Capt. Jeremy Fresques.

Capt. Fresques was an Air Force officer who was previously stationed
at Luke Air Force Base and was killed in Iraq on May 30, Memorial Day.
At 9 a.m. on June 15, his family and friends gathered at Sunland
Memorial Park in Sun City to mourn the loss of a husband, son and
friend.

Based on the letter writer's recount of the flyby, and because of the
jet noise, I'm sure you didn't hear the 21-gun salute, the playing of
taps, or my words to the widow and parents of Capt.
Fresques as I gave them their son's flag on behalf of the President of
the United States and all those veterans and servicemen and women who
understand the sacrifices they have endured. A four-ship flyby is a
display of respect the Air Force pays to those who give their lives in
defense of freedom. We are professional aviators and take our jobs
seriously, and on June 15 what the letter writer witnessed was four
officers lining up to pay their ultimate respects.

The letter writer asks, "Whom do we thank for the morning air show?"
The 56th Fighter Wing will make the call for you, and forward your
thanks to the widow and parents of Capt. Fresques, and thank them for
you, for it was in their honor that my pilots flew the most honorable
formation of their lives.

Welcome to America. Home of the Flee and land of the Blame.

Average Americans don't give a shit about things unless it directly affects them. I'm sure in that persons mind, the newest Bratz video game for little Bethany was more important than our nations military readiness and the training that our soldiers have to go through to maintain that readiness.

I bet her day would have for sure been fucked up if Walahd Jihad Johnson planted a bomb underneath her 10 miles to the gallon, world polluting, global warming Ford Expedition, that her overweight, beer guzzling husband bought for her because she was too fat to enter anything less sizeable and blew her and dear Bethany to the Kingom Come now wouldn't it.

Nobody ever thinks about that.

The guy didn't know that there was a funeral going on, so I don't think it is fair to get pissed off at him since he really had no idea. Those jets are LOUD AS HELL, I don't blame him for being ticked off about it, but it is a pretty bitchy thing to actually write a letter complaining. People do need to stop being pussy faggots about things now adays with all the sueing and bullshit that has been going on.

So what, funeral or not jets still have to fly, still have to train, if you live close to a afb that's your fault, personally I like when loud ass jets fly past my house lol

If you live close to a Base or an Airport and you don't like the noise, either move away or invest in some sound proofing for your house.

This world is full of assholes that don't keep up with anything going on and complain about everything they can.

I heard a guy last week complaining about traffic in Atlanta and driving to work in it. I have no idea who the guy was or ever even saw him before but after standing in line @ Walmart for 15 minutes listening to his whining azz I turned around and said: Holy shit man why the fu<k did you move all the way out here if you don't like driving? As he stood there looking like a dumbazz I proceeded to check out. That cry baby didn't say another word or at least didn't while I was there.

Bottom line is that people either don't us there brains or do what they want and think they an change the world around their life style and schedule.

Either way there are 2 things that I hate more than anything else in this world and that would just happen to be whiners and stupid people which sometimes go hand in hand.

The base was there first. Jets are loud. If he moved there, then doom on him. Their own fault.
