Ok so next Wednesday will be order time for turbo kit (Hopefully). If anything I may have to put it off until the 29th but we’ll see. So far I have come up w/ some ideas and its getting to be a big pain in my ass….

1. Have a shop build a custom kit, install, tune, piping, etc… $4000 roughly
2. Piece together a custom kit and order piping from Dezod. BYT Free install, tune, etc… $no clue
3. Buy the TSI Kit, install w/ the help of Edlee, call it a day…. $2600
4. Prepare for turbo… CF Hood, CF Trunk, TQ Damper, Lightened Flywheel, Stage 2 Clutch, Rear seat delete, Progress and DC Strut/sway bars, etc… < $2000

I almost wish someone would read this and say… hey I have a D17 kit F/S!! $2000 and its yours!!! …….

Im not sure if im gonna be able to boost it on the 15th… unless I can find a shop that will take half the payment on the 15th and half on the 29th lol

i say option 2 or 3. ive seen some of the shops work down there and i would say its definately not worth 4000 bucks. install it all for yourself, turbo kits are basically bolt ons unless you have to fab a downpipe or inter cooler piping. then take it to a shop and have it tuned. trackmasters in huntsville usually only charges around 200 to tune.

well even though it is more costly having a shop do you turbo kit does have it's benefits. you will make more horsepower with a custom manifold, turbo, and intercooler setup. and you will have a shop warranty (maybe)

it really makes me mad that there are only 3 different Bolt-On kits for my car... the least expensive "Decent" kit is $2500. The TSI Extreme kit. They dont even make the superior kit for the D17... Fk it i should just buy a rolling chassis hatch for $800. Drop a boosted B18C in it and keep the EM2 as a daily driver lol

what kind of power will you be putting down after the turbo kit? it may be cheaper to buy that hatch shell and drop another motor in it and turbo it next month. then have your car for a nice daily driver.

The manifold will crack and the Turbo will blow up lol

i just don't see a $900 turbo kit fitting very well

Vteckidd

buy the $900 kit, get 3-4 months of enjoyment out of it, then buy a new turbo and buy a new manifold

problem solved an youll be "turboed" by NOPI

besides, any GOOD QUALITY kit is going to run $3000+ BEFORE install

Ebay it shall be. Eventually i can just replace everything but the piping. And if i get the ebay kit i'll have the money to switch to the Skunk2 Pro coilovers..... The megans arent as low as I want them to be.

In fact the reason its so low now is because i have the spring dropped all the way down. With dampers thats not good... the spring should have no play and should stay at the top of the damper when jacked up... the post falls into the bottom bracket to lower the car. I changed it last night and the wheel gap in the rear was a good 2-3 inches.... looked ugly as hell. So i need to order new coilovers that i can just Slam all the way and still be safe

also need downpipe 2 .. so thats not a full kit .. if it doesnt have oil lines. injectors, downpipe ...... but i think that manifold would hold out for a while .. its the ramhorn manifolds u have to worry about bracing ?????????????? but anyways .. do it .. call it a day ...when it blows up then swap a k20 .... everybody wins ... ya know ?

its a cast manifold so it shouldnt crack... they also have a lifetime warrenty on that manifold.

I could have a really nice kit at the end of september but i can't wait that long lol i really really really really want it boosted before tunerfest.

FLKJASFD"LKJSF{OIHJF{IWEHaef[oihasdfoh.....

I could get the ebay kit but it would prob cost me another $500-$600 just to make it a full kit and get the piping right.

get the ebay kit, and dont get extreme with it.. and u will be ok. My old car had ebay manifold/ turbo.. and the manifold welds cracked, but it was expected b/c it was stainless steel. but it was reinforced, and hasnt had a problem. And the turbo hasnt leaked a day in its 14lbs life...:) uget the ebay kit, the rest wouldnt cost u that much you would probrbaly spend most on getting the motor to handle the boost more than anything. i think u shold keep saving for a k swap..and be alot more reliable

©hris
08-09-2007, 02:34 PM
.... hold that thought. Talking to some1 about a K20a2 swap right now.

How much do you think it would cost to get the pipes bent to fit right on the ebay kit??? and who could do that without needing to keep the car??

JITB
08-09-2007, 02:54 PM
you cando that all yourself. You can use those intercooler piping kits on ebay or u can or u can order custom piping bends. oil lines arent exepnive either. just gonna take alot of time to get it all together, but its truly not that hard. only thing that might make u carless for a few days is getting the exhaust work done..

http://www.importatlanta.com/forums/showthread.php?t=127731
this kit on this car was pretty much all ebay, (bov/turbo/piping/manifold/intercooler) all under 1500$. you work with what u have tho if u have the funds for soemthing better than go for it. and plus u drive a honda...u always have options..

lol not rich... just drop every spare penny i have into the car. Im paying for everything in cash that way I own whatever I buy. If something were to ever happen (car gets stolen, totaled, etc..) I won't have any debt to go with it. I don't do anything in terms of going out on the weekends. I have not been to a bar or out to eat in a long time. I spend my weekends working on the car or chillin at a friends house. I pay my bills w/ my salary checks and my car parts w/ my once a mon. commission check.

Trust me If i had a Credit card w/ a $10000 limit on it.... all $10000 woulda been dropped into a Boosted K20a.

Sounds like your budget is tight - give yourself more time to purchase when you're more comfortable.

Murphy's Law applies to most builds- 9/10 you will end up paying more for 'odds and ends' so just make sure you can fully afford it.

k20 FTW, don't drop it in yet! BUILD IT, BOOST IT, DROP IT IN FOR NEXT SEASON! Whats the point it being ready for the END of the season when you can come in with a high caliber car next season instead of just another swapped civic at the END of this one?

©hris
08-12-2007, 09:31 AM
well... here is the thing. BlownSS is selling the motor. I still have not seen a VIN or a photo of the motor... something doesnt feel right about that. I have figured out a much more cost effective way to exceed the HP i am looking to be at for alot less money. and If i destroy my motor i can get a new one for $600.

So Edlee and I have priced out a Custom turbo kit using a T25 from a 300z. i can get everything i need for less than $1000. leaving me room to get new tires, EVO2 Exhaust, and some other goodies. Once the Turbo kit is on I will just finish getting the car ready for Tunerfest and Nopi. (paint, dents, dings, etc..)

We are installing the kit next weekend.

After Nopi I will then park the car for alittle while and drive my DD. Right after nopi I will then upgrade to a GT28R Disco Potato Turbo and P&P head w/ Custom I/M and should be looking at 250whp w/ a turbo that spools around 2000rpms.... Singlecam turbo ftw!!!

Thats the plan... final answer lol

i dont know man that looks like that is a tuning issue, or him footing the car, or maybe buying the wrong plugs (too hot).
