SCAM!
Don't use PayPal (PayPal is good for buyers, but TERRIBLE for sellers).
Accept only a bank wire transfer from an international buyer (or if they have a friend or relative here in the states, have them pay with a US Postal money order. Don't take chances.

I'd say no.

Someone tried to buy my PSP but wanted me to ship it to Nigeria for their "nephew" or something. Yeah, not happening.

For me at least, they pretty much copy/pasted a craigs list scam format and it was pretty easy to tell. My person also had 0 feedback and a name like xxx___________9 so yeah.

I would only ship to the lower 48 states IMO though.

check what the 4 items are for, here lately they have been creating .01 cent auction and buying them then leave themselves good remarks. 2001, so in 6 years he has used it 4 times. and out of country, that sounds shady, stick with US only. and stick with paypal only as well, its guaranteed. once u ship it out its gone, no stopping it. how are you figuring the shipping costs?so many things could wrong.

Like I said contact the guy who just sold that card for $7k, LOL. With ANY questions involving eBay, even if it is just attached to eBay deals, LOL. Just kidding, I think it's a scam. When I was selling my Skyline I got that a shitload of times. Don't do it.

anyone saying they live in the states but are out of country, or asking if you can ship out of country ARE SCAMMERS. Also, the biggest giveaway is if they message you and keep saying "item" rather then actually saying what you are selling. I jsut made my first sale on ebay and it because pretty easy to tell whats a scam and whats not.

go into your ebay and edit your listing and put the following

"Will only ship if winner is PayPal verified and address is confirmed"

This way, if the winner is not verified/confirmed, you bypass him and make a second chance offer to the next highest bidder and sell it to him. If the winner sends you money anyway, leave it in your paypal for awhile. Since you stated you wont ship it to unqualified people, you dont have to send it. But if they dispute it, you can just refund the money and they will go away.

that sounds like a good idea. thanks!!!

NP. I did this when i was welling a high dollar laptop. When the winning bid is placed/finished and if they pay via PayPal.. you can see if the account is verified/confirmed. Also, when answering questions... remember to check off the box that hides your email address.

here is my auction...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=180147276703&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=008

how do i set a buy now??? is that the same thing as a reserve??

i could look all of this up but i figured an actual person could explain this better lol

Doppelgänger
08-09-2007, 09:06 AM
reserve means bidding has to reach so high in order for it to be sold. If you want to get $900 for it, but dont want to start the bidding that high, you set the reserve. But in that case, the bidding can go higher... depends on who wants it. Putting a buy it now means you'll accept that offer and once someone buys it... the auction is over.

Its taking a gamble. If you have something people want, then set a reserve to what you'll take. If you have something that is "a good deal", then set a BIN. Like my laptop i sold, it is one that people like to have.... so i knew there would be people bidding it out. But if i had a regular old laptop and i just wanted to get rid of it, i would have set a BIN with a price that i wanted for it... but not a top dollar price.
