I like diesels but not 3/4, or 1 ton trucks and I dont trust VW. I really dont like the huge engine sizes in the trucks either. So after mutch waiting I finally get a chance to purchase a 1/2 ton truck with a 4cyl diesel for around $20k (price is only speculation) It has a six speed auto and 4 wheel drive standard current engine specs are = 2.2L common rail diesel @ 180hp & 300ftlbs. Those are gonna change before the release though.

The other important thing about this is that this is India's first penetration into the US auto market. Also our local Allen Vigil Ford has purchased exclusive distribution rights in the US. 205 other dealers are on board East of the Mississippi. The company is called Mahindra and is already present in the US for tractor sales (they make up 1/4 of the tractor sales in the US) Not to mention the particular vehicle has won many awards over the years. Expected release here is late 08' early 09'.
Did i mention a fully boxed frame? Suck on that ford!..and 32-35~mpg!
But naturally the big three gotta try too so they will have "smaller" v8 diesels in their 1/2 series for 09'. So far GM has announced a 4.5L v8 at about 312hp and 520ftlbs.
