Thats right, the Civic Type-RR is coming to USA

http://www.thetorquereport.com/civic_type_rr-thumb.jpg

Honda has just announced that the Mugen version of the Honda Civic Si will be sold on our shores this fall. Although the car has a modified body, suspension and new wheels the car has been criticized for not having any real performance gains over the regular Civic Si. Well if you live in Japan you can actually buy a more powerful Civic from your local Honda dealer.

On September 13th Honda is going to release another version of the Civic dubbed the Honda Civic Type RR, in Japan. Japan already has a more powerful version of the Civic that we don't get here in the US, the Civic Type-R. The Type-R is already more powerful than our Si model with 225HP and 158 lb-ft of torque. The new Type RR version will come with even more power at 240HP and 160 lb-ft of torque. The estimated 0-60 mph time for the more powerful version is 5.8 sec.

The RR version of the Civic is 22lbs lighter and gets a dual exhaust system. The car also has a modified suspension and braking system thanks to Mugen.

So what is the catch? Well the car lists for $40,000! Honda has stated that the Civic Si Mugen that we are getting this fall will start just shy of $30,000. Well $40,000 probably would be too much for a Civic, even if it has 43 more horsepower than the regular Si version. That probably explains why Honda is only going to make 300 of these cars and in only one color, red.

And still ugly. Type RR? That's all we need is fucking liitle kids running around saying, "Let's race our Double R" like they're fucking gangster racers. Later, QD.

Wow...couple funny things I noticed...

On September 13th Honda is going to release another version of the Civic dubbed the Honda Civic Type RR, .

HAHA Maybe the riceboys will think putting two R's on the car will make it doubley faster! LOL

The RR version of the Civic is 22lbs lighter and gets a dual exhaust system.

ROFLS again... 22lbs? Wow. Probably could have gotten it lower without putting a dual exhaust system on there.

$40K for a Civic? Wow, I can go get one of the new NISMO Track Tuned 350Z's for less than that.

See: http://digiads.com.au/car-news/latest-NISSAN-news/2007_Nissan_NISMO_350Z_GT_Style_200704/photos_0.html

Also, whomever wrote that article needs to fired, sometime around now. It was jumping back and forth so much that I couldn't tell which car it was referring to half the time. First it was the Mugen Civic, then the Si, the Type-R, the Type RR, then back to the Si.

once again Honda trying to step up and compete w/ Evo and STI.... i think its a lame ideaI don't think that's the idea at all. FWD, 240HP and 160TQ is hardly EVO competition. They're just trying to get more attention to the performance attributes of the Civic by releasing this special edition with a bodykit, exhaust, and 40-ish more horsepower. It's all simple marketing.

in a sedan???Why not? The new Si is already available in a sedan. The Neon SRT-4 and Sentra SE-R Spec-V are both sedans. Hell, the Mazdaspeed 3 is a d@mn station wagon as is the new STi. All of these companies are blending practicallity with performance to appeal to a larger audience. The younger crowds get the performance they want and the older crowds get the practicallity they need without having to settle for a boring soccer-shuttle.

You could have you about 5-10 better looking and faster Honda's for that same amount of moneyYeah but you can't finance 5-10 Honda's @ the dealership for 60 months. Actually, if you can get 0% financing, no down payment and 60 months you will pay $666...... Hmmmmmm and it only comes in red...... Hmmmmmmm

A fully loaded Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR comes in at just over $38,000.

A fully loaded Subaru Impreza STi comes in at just over $34,000.

These two cars seem to be import-fans' dream cars...and they seem to offer so much more at the same or at a lower price than this.

dude really civics to me are like the beginner class for tuners i mean how many folks you know still ride anything with a civic motor in it other than a b16 or the slightly built k? Most of them are swapped with something out of the b18 line or some beastly hybrid anyway. Its making decent power for a civ but that price i could throw that kind of money into a rsx type s and whup ass that all day. Hopefully Honda will drop the price to something reasonable. 40k is waaaaaaaaay too high.
