I was thinking, since my 30 days are soon to be up on my bill of sale, why dont people just sell to a friend, then re-buy it back, would that not restart the 30 days? Discuss.

Why not just register it?

I don't know a huge amount about auto dealing in GA but I worked at a couple of dealerships in another state way back in college... wouldn't you then be responsible for sales tax on every transaction? Well, unless you sold it back and forth for a dollar but that's gotta be illegal somehow.

well, i gotta get emissions and i have straight pipe exhaust, the car was registered in Columbus, so it didn't need emissions. i didn't know that, so now i gotta get it passed, but i don't know if ill be able to do it within the few days i have left. just wondering if it would be a possibility. is there sales tax on private transactions? I've bought a couple cars and witnessed selling of cars privately and never heard of a tax. i do know that after a certain amount of transactions the government gets a little sniffy on what your doing.

Did this change recently because that is certainly not what they told me when I was at the DMV about 3 months ago.

Why not buy a stock exhaust, throw it on, pass emissions, and swap your straight pipe back

Run it through emissions let it fail, then you have another 30 days to fix it (at least that's how it was in Tuscon).

what year 240? if its 95 or prior. take it to the station, when testing. ask him to make it pass and slip him a 50.

When I read the thread I instantly knew what type of answer you were looking for ;)

Had nothing to do with taxes or emissions :lmfao:
