Hey if you guys were gonna go turbo would you use the B16 block or get rid of that and buy a b18c1 block? I heard that even a built b16 block can become kinda problematic at around 250whp. Thats why im leaning toward the b18c1 block. i want to do it right the first time. Im going to use cp pistons 10:5, eagle rods, etc. And mildly work on the B16 head. So i guess im lookin at a poor mans type r.lol. With a turbonetics kit on about 8 psi. I just wanna get around 250whp. Im gonna take it to mainstream performance because they are amazing and they dont charge an arm and a leg.

ive heard the b16 pistons have weak ring landings but if you are going turbo, why are you going 10.5? Are you planning on sleeving or keeping stock bore?

With that power goal, you can just boost the B16. Many stock B16 could make your power goal easily, and you plan to use forged internals so 250 should be no problem at all.

you can easily make 250whp without doing anything internally. just slap the turbo on.

I'd rather have a 1.8 than a 1.6 liter. Like the other guy said, 250 should be easy with a stock block. I did that with a d series. Well, I came close...

as long as you arent using stock pistons/rings the b16 should be fine but givin the option why not use the gsr? my b16 blew a ring and is now a paper weight sitting on the floor of my garage. i just feel like the gsr gives you a little more room to grow. and that is important because 250whp is gonna start to seem slow after a while. boost is the most addictive drug known to man. just my .02

if you're keeping it stock internals then i would recommend the b18c1, but if you're going to drop forged rods/pistons and headstuds and you already have the b16 then keep that. built bottom end b16 will support way more than 250whp.

the reason to go b18c1 stock over b16 stock is because the ringlands on stock b16 are known to be weak.

Use the GSR block, that .2 liter can give you a good bit of torque

250whp...just turbo it. You can make that without even taking off the valve cover with a propper sized turbo and tuning under 10psi.
If you already have a running B16 and want to build a seperate block then I'd personally opt for a B18B LS block.
