Yeah so I was motivated when a friend of mine did their post of how her car looked when she first got it and it told me, "Hrmmm, nobody on this team, or anyone for that fact, knows what my car looked like when I first got it!" Well dag-nab-it if you ain't gonna know now! This is more of a record keeping thread for me but any questions, comments, or concerns are always welcome. Thanks, I and I hope that you enjoy. BTW I know I am nowhere near the level of some of the members on here but I wanted to post anyways, their guidance, leadership, and suggestions have led to each and everyone of my decisions. Thanks CL.

So off to the progression! Lets see how she got to where she is today

Here it is the day we brought her home! Before 10 miles off the lot I already stopped at Oasis Window Tinting and tinted her 35% on the sides and 20% in the rear. That's right. I didn't own the car for more than 15 minutes and it was already modded! Bought her in March of 2004.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/chilisparkinglot1.jpg

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/12-18-06AMShoot13.jpg

I went back under the hood to do some more work. This time with the help of Spectre Performance. They gave me a polished intake system. I got a 1st Gen Strut bar, got that polished. I got my intake manifold polished, and I got polished radiator hoses. It dressed up the engine bay quite nicely.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/3-24-07change5.jpg

I changed the trunk up a bit by building an amplifier rack and false wall. We are working on making the NOS functional. I got a great deal on the kit. - Thanks Corey!

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/11-12-0615.jpg

I added a custom shift boot. I call it the $30 Manual Transmission! lol

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/11-12-0614.jpg

Time for a change. Changed up the front bumper a little to include my IS Foglamps. ELITE got sponsored by Dunlop Tires so it was time for new wheels too!

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/3-24-07change2.jpg

The boys at Butler mounted on my new EXE Konvex 20x9 and 20x10 wheels with a 4.5" rear lip!.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/4-10-07Wheels-hood-grille18.jpg

That went on and the bumper was finished as well. I love the way it looks with the IS Foglamps.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/4-18-07UpdatewithBumper3.jpg

Then we lowered the car on KYB Shocks and Eibach Pro Kit Springs.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/5-3-07newsuspension.jpg

That's me in the mechanics clothes!

Here it is dropped at DUB

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/DUBATL071.jpg

Then we found that there were rubbing issues with a full load on the car so I went in and shaved my rear fenders! No more rubs under normal load. I've since gone back and cut out the lower sections as well.

yess i did. rolling the fenders on a lexus is a bit more difficult especially in the rear. there is a double layer of sheetmetal and it is thicker than usual with thin layers of paint. so while rolling it would have cracked more easily. so we opted to shave. i eventually will be going with custom mouldings for a widebody set up with air ride probably late next year. so we'll see. this was a temporary fix.

Just seein where lowering that beast was on the timeline. Saw that car at the US play show the other day. that is the GS pwnage. If you widen the fenders please space out the wheels

carbongs
07-27-2007, 04:46 AM
if I widen the fenders I will be going from a 35 offset to a 20 offset so I will get new wheels and go with one that has a 6 inch lip and i'll be on air ride too. so the wheels will be wider! don't worry. i'll do it right!

kyle. i'll be at the ihop show saturday night and at marlon's on sunday bro!

kevint707 I will be doing something with the exhaust very soon. I think you'll like it.

Very nice progression Tony. I, myself like the front bumper, heheh. Definitely like what you've done to it to make it more custom. The GS is definitley coming along very nicely.

Wow! I hadn't noticed how much has changed since this post was started. So, It is time to update!!!

Had Paul's Custom Exhaust in Snellville install my new exhaust setup

When you arrive and pull into the garage bay behind the facility you are greeted with this work of art.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/11-19-07GS3PaulsCustomExhaustIns-35.jpg

After some coaxing and ramp work we were able to get my car up on the drive on lift to begin the work.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/11-19-07GS3PaulsCustomExhaustIns-34.jpg

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/11-19-07GS3PaulsCustomExhaustIns-26.jpg

Some pics of my original install I had. This is a great example of a poor install and bad choice in materials. The craftsmanship is horrible and Paul noticed it right away. He said, "We are definitely getting rid of this and starting all over! I can't let you leave with this still on your car."

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/11-19-07GS3PaulsCustomExhaustIns-29.jpg

The stock Y-Pipe with catalytic converter

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/11-19-07GS3PaulsCustomExhaustIns-31.jpg

The new Toyomoto Y-Pipe and Remus STYLED Exhaust Mufflers. So nice and shiny!

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/11-19-07GS3PaulsCustomExhaustIns-28.jpg

Mocking up the Y-Pipe to the Headers. There was a slight issue since the Y-Pipie is also made for the IS300 it is not meant to fit on the GS300 right where the two pipes come to one there was slight rubbing on the heat shields and Tranny plate.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/11-19-07GS3PaulsCustomExhaustIns-22.jpg

So, Paul and Matt decided to heat up the pipe and bend it out of the way towards a more desirable direction instead of cutting and extending the Y-Pipe. They really wanted to keep the look of the install clean and bending the pipe was a more desirable option.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/11-19-07GS3PaulsCustomExhaustIns-19.jpg

There is now a hint of blue where they did the bend. Looks pretty cool to me. Too bad nobody will ever see it!

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/11-19-07GS3PaulsCustomExhaustIns-8.jpg

Paul decided to do a straight pipe till the rear axle to make another Y-Pipe to the mufflers. Here they are fabricating the Y-Pipe.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/11-19-07GS3PaulsCustomExhaustIns-16.jpg

The product

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/11-19-07GS3PaulsCustomExhaustIns-12.jpg

Time to mock up one side of the exhaust. Paul wanted a clean install so he did a one piece pipe from the Y and bended it to fit.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/11-19-07GS3PaulsCustomExhaustIns-10.jpg

He duplicated his work for the driver's side.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/11-19-07GS3PaulsCustomExhaustIns-6.jpg

All welded together.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/11-19-07GS3PaulsCustomExhaustIns-5.jpg

Here's a look from the Toyomoto Y-Pipe back.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/11-19-07GS3PaulsCustomExhaustIns-3.jpg

My High Flow Cat

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/11-19-07GS3PaulsCustomExhaustIns-2.jpg

Paul and Matt then painted the piping with some silver coating to make it more durable and clean. With the slight angling out of each muffler I think this flows much better with the body kit that I have on the car.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/11-19-07GS3PaulsCustomExhaustIns-4.jpg

Here's a link to a short video clip that I took before the install. Much higher pitched and less responsive.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/th_11-19-07GS3PaulsCustomExhaustIns-37.jpg (http://s49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/?action=view&current=11-19-07GS3PaulsCustomExhaustIns-37.flv)

Here's a link to a short video clip that I took after the install. Much deeper and more responsive.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/th_11-19-07GS3PaulsCustomExhaustIns-36.jpg (http://s49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/?action=view&current=11-19-07GS3PaulsCustomExhaustIns-36.flv)

Thanks again to Paul and Matt over at Paul's Custom Exhaust in Snellville, GA. They have taken me on for the 2008 show season and I will represent their name proudly!

Kevin at R2B2 is wrapping my trunk, UGO roof spoiler, and Junction Produce 3 piece spoiler replica in carbon fiber

As many of you know my car has undergone many changes for the upcoming 08 show season. Here are some sneak peaks of the work that is going on. Look for a final update at the World of Wheels show in Atlanta January 3rd-6th. The car will be done next Friday and will undergo extensive detailing for the show. Just to tell you what is happening in these pics:

1. Carbon fiber wrapping the UGO Roof spoiler
2. Carbon fiber wrapping the Junction Produce Replica rear spoiler. The two side pieces will be color matched to the body to achieve my two tone carbon look.
3. Trunk will be wrapped in carbon as well. I am not deleting the inner tails. You'll see why.

Dropped off at the shop

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/DSCN8495.jpg

Had to move it to another room since they were about to sand another car down

ok so the trunk lid was wrapped today and has one layer of resin on, they are going to let it cure overnight, sand, and apply another coat of resin, sand, and clear coat it hopefully tomorrow. car is now scheduled to be complete monday or tuesday just in time for roll in at the World of Wheels Show on Thursday! Here are the pics I took today.

This is the top of the trunk lid

here you can tell how kevin matched up the weaves from the trunk lid to the jp replica spoiler

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/DSCN8814.jpg

here's the full rear end. you can see how they painted the side pieces of the rear spoiler to match the car and there's the ugo roof spoiler up top.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/DSCN8813.jpg

We also tinted the tails

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS400%20Build/DSCN9159.jpg

from the side

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/DSCN8809.jpg

a better angle with the slightly tinted tails. we did two coats of smoke black and called it quits. it is easier to get darker than it is to go lighter.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/DSCN8808.jpg

They also faded the sides of the ugo roof spoiler to match te car so that when you see it from the side it looks black

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/DSCN8811.jpg

you can see the fade here

Here you can see where my Bucky got creative with some paint.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/DSCN9175.jpg

I am also getting my pro lex performance exhaust manifold heat shield painted black. after some research i found that it really doesn't do much of a job shielding heat from the intake piping so i decided to create a show piece of it. i cut out a rectangular window so that you can see the headers through the hole. It should add for some good contrast with the black heat shield and the gold headers.

up close idea of it. it is only filler primered right now. not painted yet.

Ok, so today was a very productive day for me considering how late it started lol. I want to thank Dan, Juan, and and Shin (GGPIS3, Jvillagran and CarbonIS) for helping me out with parts and last night with my AEM wideband install, and thanks to Bucky for loaning me his spare carbon fiber single guage pod to use until we come up with something better later.

We took off the exisiting paint on the nitrous bottles yesterday night with aircraft paint remover. It is some cool stuff if you haven't ever used it before. Apply the goopy stuff on and spread it around. Let is sit for about 5 minutes and watch the paint bubble off! lol we then primered the bottles with a little sandable primer just to make the paint adhearable later. Thanks to Dan for letting me use one of his spare nitrous bottles until I get my new one in the mail!

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/DSCN9185.jpg

Here is my header heat shield, along with the shifter panel, and double din face. These will be painted later today when Bucky gets a chance.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/DSCN9186.jpg

We trimmed the carbon panels and sanded the edges. We will be added 1 or 2 more flood coats of resin on top before sanding down and clearing them.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/DSCN9176.jpg

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/DSCN9177.jpg

Here is the AEM Wideband. It is temporarily mounted to a chrome bezel guage holder.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/DSCN9180.jpg

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/DSCN9181.jpg

And this morning with the carbon fiber guage pod Bucky let me borrow. I only have it held down right now with double sided 3m tape until i figure out what to do. I am trying to source a driver's side a-pillar so that i can mold my triple guage pod to it and wrap it with carbon fiber. until then this guage pod cup will do.

as you can see the bumper is not fully attached so fitment is a little off. there will need to be some cutting of the lower portion of the bumper to make this set up work. but at least i know it fits!!!

looks pretty stealthy to me!!!

as for his power goals... it will be kept in the low 300's for daily driving.. we want to keep his car reliable with absolutely 0 issues besides oil changes. we will probably have a higher boost tune which will make about 400ish rwhp, but knowing tony, it will never see higher than 10 psi. lol

thanks dan, you are probably right about that. i would like to see 450 but the only time that would happen is on a dyno. i've had too many accidents to try doing stuff like that on the streets. i love my car and i want to keep it in runing and reliable condition for as long as possible.

well the power acoustic amplifier finally died last week. i went ahead and ordered a new solobaric L7 subwoofer for the trunk. it is yet another step to making the trunk a little more stealthy looking since the new L7's are black.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/newl7sub13.jpg

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/newl7sub6.jpg

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/newl7sub3.jpg

I then went over to our good friend Armando at Precision Audio to get a new amplifier. To keep the budget in tact we opted to go with an Almani 1600/2 brushed aluminum series amplifier. This would still handle the L7, keep the look of the trunk clean and simple, have high quality control since the internal boards are the same ones used in Hifonics amplifiers, and not sacrifice too much out of pocket.

Ok, so a little update from me to everyone.

Project boost is now being set aside at least for this year. Some other priorities have come into my life so it is time to re-prioritize.

However on a good note, the car has been sponsored by BagYard Air Ride out of Austria, and Accu Air out of California. So the car will be undergoing a custom air bag and management installation in the months to come. I will keep everyone posted on that as the parts come in.

Just got these Rotora Rear Cross Drilled and Slotted Rotors from UGKkllr today in the post.

I've been needing them badly as my stocks were starting to rust, wear, and not to mention it never looked right having cross drilled and slotted front rotors and not have the rears too. Thanks to UGKkllr for the fast shipping and easy transaction as well!

I should also be doing the air ride install as soon as all the parts come in. I am super excited. Last look at what she looks like now.

I had another misfortune happen to me the other day. My little cousin thought he was helping out by putting a spare tire chalk in front of my car from our boat which is also parked in the garage. I left to go somewhere not knowing it was there and it came up with the tire and basically wedged itself in between the tire and the fiberglass bumper. As you may remember the other side of the bumper is already suffering from a tire retread that I hit on GA400. Good thing I haven't sent the bumper to get painted yet otherwise it would be back for twice as long. Money is tight right now so I am going to wait until I finish the air ride install (which I am still waiting on to get here - stupid customs) to fix the cracks in the bumper.

This is damage that is done on the side where the tire chalk was. It cracked the side and the whole piece parallel to the tire tread from the bottom all the way up.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/53109gsb-3copy.jpg

So, I took the bumper off. This is my motivation not to drive the car until it is done lol. I love driving it too much. This is how low I hope the bumper will be once the air ride is on. We'll see :goodjob:

This is the side that was previously a victim to the GA400 alligator :(

Thanks to jroring on Club Lexus here I got a set of USDM 2JZGTE cams machined to fit the 2JZGE VVT-i. In terms of performance.

USDM GTE cams specs:

Intake: 233 deg
Lift: 8.25mm

Exhaust: 233 deg
Lift 8.4mm

Exhaust apparently has 1.17mm more left than GE vvti cams.

Stock GTE cams are good for around 650-700rwhp!

Here is a website with the specification

thanks everyone, yeah the eye lids are hit or miss with people but i like em!

Time to update again. I know I am jumping all over the place with the mods. Air ride, cams, now this little thing!

I was able to pick up this carbon fiber overlay gauge cluster/bezel piece a while back from lexusscturbo on CL for a steal.

Made payment and it was on my doorstep in a few days!

Opening it up

The old bezel had to go. I didn't realize that this bezel was for the 98-00 GS not the 01+ since it didn't have clearance for the rings on the 01+ bezel I had to go an alternate route to make this piece work.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/2009/6-14-09%20Carbon%20Gauge%20Bezel/61409gci-16copy.jpg

The donor car! Veritek gave me one of his old bezels from his 98 GS300 Turbo to test fit. It worked like a charm and he had a spare that he got when he purchased DaveGS4's Supercharged GS4 so now I have that part on my car! Thanks to Bing and Dave for the part! I plan on making use of the custom LEDs that were installed on the cluster too!

how do u get ur car sponsered?

different people go about it different ways. i won't go too much into detail as it does pertain to the interests that you have and the car and the available vendors. you really just need to get out and get noticed. contact some of the companies that you'd be interested in being sponsored by and they will have applications for you. it is something you have to learn first hand as most of it has to do with networking.

well it has been awhile since i've updated and i wish i had some good news... instead i have some bad news. since my incident with my front end getting all scratched and cracked up i've beed saving up for a replacement bumper so i thought to myself what the hey why not drive it more since it can't get messed up more?

well, i got keyed and i think it was at work. luckily it wasn't too bad but still enough to irritate me.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/carkeyed.jpg

i might just take this as a starting point for my next string of mods. in due time i am going to get some new parts since i am going to need to get a lot of things repainted.

i am going to review the tapes at work monday to see if i can see anything. i didn't see this until thursday morning before heading over to a friend's place for dinner so it had to of happened the day before.

I have in total 2 master keys, 2 valet keys, and 1 credit card key for my GS. One of the master keys was mangled up at the screw when I got it so the flip style key gave me an excuse to try out something else. Pretty inexpensive at $30 shipped to my door.

Here's the old master key that I am replacing the shell with

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/22610gsfkf.jpg

Looks decent right? Well look at this

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/22610gsfkf-2.jpg

So I took apart the shell man is this thing dirty!!!!

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/22610gsfkf-4.jpg

Pulled out the transponder

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/22610gsfkf-5.jpg

The new case with flip style blade

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/22610gsfkf-6.jpg

Flipped

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/22610gsfkf-7.jpg

Making sure I held down the blade while opening (it sprung open and the spring flew and went missing for a while lol) I put the transponder (cleaned up and a fresh battery inside) from the master key into the new case

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/22610gsfkf-8.jpg

Feels pretty natural

http://gickr.com/results4/anim_33e15fae-e6f6-a6f4-9543-3ed8abb7437c.gif (http://gickr.com)

Done deal with the sticker and decal on

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/22610gsfkf-11.jpg

Now I just have to find someone to cut the blade. The local dealership said they aren't going to cut a key that is not supplied by Lexus. Something about it possibly messing up their cutting machine. Stupid liabilities. They said try an automotive locksmith.

Hopefully I will get to modding the car again soon!

So the key was cut finally and here are the pics! It works in all the stock locations and luckily I didn't have to cut the blade down any due to my remote starter having the chip inside the ignition.

so picked up this broadway mirror for the GS from skyyos on CL. Haven't been able to do big mods lately so I've been busy doing these small mods. I've been wanting one of these for a while.

I like things with Japanese on the packaging haha

a few changes happening right now:

I took all of this out the other day. I work at a radio shop now in Atlanta so I have access to better equipment and more knowledge so it is time to update and rebuild.

After a freak electrical incident the car caught fire and it burned to the ground :(

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/2009/8-20-09%20Passat%20Demolition/81909jpld-14.jpg

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/2009/8-20-09%20Passat%20Demolition/81909jpld-15.jpg

Amazingly the trunk was still in tact and undamaged

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/2009/8-20-09%20Passat%20Demolition/81909jpld-21.jpg

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/2009/8-20-09%20Passat%20Demolition/81909jpld-22.jpg

So we made a deal and did some trading and I got his box and subs so that his car could live on in my GS

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/2009/8-20-09%20Passat%20Demolition/81909jpld-43.jpg

The subs are really what is gonna make this trunk. It is going to be an ARC Audio build. Gonna do it right this time too. If we reuse the box then it'll sit something like this

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/52210gsto-5.jpg

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/GS300%20Build/52210gsto-6.jpg

I will probably build a new box just to have it look cleaner and be more unique. Either way a part of my friend's car will live on in my GS.

This is only one of a few projects going on and I actually just confirmation today of a new mod that I've wanted forever and ever! I'm so happy :) Can't wait for them to arrive!

lol definitely not keeping them white. :)

So now that I work up at American Radio in Cumming, I've got a lot of stereo heads and experts giving me ideas and helping me out. Big shout out goes to my buddies John Marsh, Scott Paterson, and Peter Lutz for helping out with this build.

As you know I already semi prepped the trunk by taking out the old system and some panels. Well, John took one look and said hmmm.
