The title pretty much explains it, what is the worst most ghetto repair/improvement that you have done, mostly for cars.

i had a 64 vw bus that i used a 3" piece of coat hanger for the shift linkage. about every couple of years it would break. i would have to craw under the bus and fix it i kept using the same coat hanger. damn i miss that bus.

Theres no telling. Maybe a 5" diameter industrial pressure gauge off a big machine from the 70"s. I won it for $2 and used it as a boost gauge. Thing was fucking ginormus and made out of bronze.

Oh I see its repair. I dont know, yesterday my dads car was over heating because the main fan had taken a crap, so I hard wired the a/c fan to the battery and ran the power wire into the car where I put on a switch. So now there is a switch that just lay around on the drivers side floor board. Thats pretty ghetto but shit works and took 10min and $0.

I'm currently fixing my go-kart with a broken engine mount using only zip ties and JB weld :goodjob:

Duct tape, JB weld, and zip ties FTW!

Oh hell i've got a few of these lol. Subframe on my old CR250 broke when ai flipped it. Used a ratchet strap to hold it together. Sold the bike, (the guy knew it was broke) with it tied up with a shoe lace.

I bought my 96 civic, with a hole in the block, i JB welded that for a week until i got paid to get my new motor. Tons of times i've held my exhaust up with coat hangers. Shift linkage in my CRX bushing was worn, so i jammed a few nuts in the bushings to take up slack until i could buy new ones (its still like that, and has almost no excessive play)

Few other things i've done too lol.

hmm

I've had to zip tie injectors into place

I think the worst was when fuses and wiring melted, and I pulled out my radio on the side of the road pull the interior panels and got as much speaker wiring as I could... and make temporary fusible links and make shift patch wiring

Also once the drivetrain belt broke on my Starion when I was with a girl after a nice night out. I had her take off her panty hose and made a make shift belt with it ( old school muscle car trick ) - I had to buy her new ones :( lol

I had an HKS Super Sequential BOV that blew off my turbo piping because of the bullshit ass C clip they use to hold it to the piping. I ziptied the BOV back in the mount on my turbo piping so I could get home.

I use a Greddy Type S now.

my rear bumper on my escort fell off in the student parking lot one day back when i lived in miami, so i used my girlfriend at the time shoe laces to tie it back on. it stayed like that for 6months, when we broke up like a month before i got a new bumper she tryed to take them back. lol

I used a T fitting in my wastegate line as a boost controller. Ghetto, but effective.

i had a accelerator cable break once.....tied my girlfriends, one of her friends, adn my shoe strings together and attached it to the butterfly on the throttle body, ran the shoe strings through the fire wall and pulled on the string to give the car gas....drove it like that for a week or so until the new cable came in

had both carrier bearings (they surround and stabalize the driveshaft) on an awd talon go bad about 100 miles form home.....limp noodled it to a home depot, cut a slit in the carrier bearings, filled them bitches w/ caulk, let dry, and drove it the rest of the way home

had a window motor go bad, took off the door panel and used soldiering wire to wire the window shut b/c it would not stay up on its own....traded that vehicle in just about 2 months ago :ninja:

well it's not really a "repair", but last summer when i first put my coilovers on, somehow my brake line got fucked up in the parking lot of school (in Atlanta -- and i live in Gainesville). I had to tape it up with electrical tape and E-brake all the way back to Gainesville lolol.

lol considering chicks aren't big on old imports i have a few questions...

1. Was there ACTUALLY a chick present at the time?
2. That said... Are you sure they weren't YOUR pantyhose?
3. That said... Are you REALLY in fact straight?

lol i think i win this thread

for those of you who have seen/ridden in my car

I win the ghettoness competition, absolutely EVERYTHING is ghetto rigged beyond recognition, some things are ghetto rigged for no reason, intercooler zip tied on, super glue under couplers, speed sensor is held in by mounting wire into the tranny because i lost the mount, the list goes on and on...

She called it my second woman :lmao:
