Maybe if you bought it and couldn't do any work yourself... And got a downpipe and exhaust while you were at it.

ive found some cheap sr motors so yeah 3k-4k does sound a lil to high for a common swap...

07-25-2007, 02:57 AM
why are you saying an sr swap will be 3-4k??

Sr from jhot=1600
comes with everything, side mount DP, ecu wiring.

Or you could get an rb25 for 2k.
But that swap would set you back to around 3.5-4k for mounts and drive shaft and FMIC and what not.

i guess you are forgetting stuff like fuel pump , suspension, an exhaust , the ECU wiring...and if i were you i would definetly buy a front clip...and slowrolla...nice ebay prices.

and if you want a full breakdown of everything you have do along with prices i can give you that to...no way you are putting a SR20DET into an S13 for 1600$

Hahahahh! Those aren't ebay prices you idiot. Those are Prices from Jhot. Can you not read?

Why would you need a front clip? So you can get.. Brakes, a RHD shell you will have to get rid of, A/C lines you probably won't use, and a shitload more hassle picking the thing up? You need nothing a clip provides to do the swap. Motorsets these days come with everything besides a SMIC, and you can get a FMIC setup for $350.

And since when do you need suspension to do an SR swap?

You can hotwire the stock fuel pump until you get a walboro. It works fine.

I do SR swaps for $500, so.. $1600, plus $500= 2100. I could put SR's in 240's all day long for $1600.

Benefit.. I really don't see how you make it through the day.

ok buy your bargain basement SR, but when it fucks up ,

and since you love ebay so much, i dont see any sr's for 1600$ from jhot.

1. Front clip from a low mileage 180sx $2400 (or "1600$" from ebay which i wouldnt trust), labor $750, (or 500 from mr. tyler)

2. greddy down pipe $125, ebay fmic $250, intake $50, radiator $300, boost gauge $100, turbo timer $75, ssac exhaust $250,

total $4300

Benefit
07-25-2007, 05:39 AM
or we can go the sr special and do it this way

1600 sr , 500 from mr hell fire , downpipe for 125, fmic for 250 , 200 radiator , and say you dont need a boost gauge or turbo timer , well even throw that out...but exhaust for 250...we come up with the total

3000$.......hmmmmm, weird.

who the hell would drive a sr'd 240 on stock suspension?

"hotwire the fuel pump UNTIL you can afford a walbro" wtf?? wouldnt you have to buy it anyways?........

does this mean i can put an sr in my car for 900$ + ecu, wiring, transmission? and even if i do, how long until that sr with UNKNOWN milage blows up?, "30 day warranty" which they will fuck you over with anyways....

I personally say cash in on both cars and buy something else..Whether it be a Euro, an older Supra, or an RX7.....

:lmfao: They are a "true" Japanese part and motor supplier out of Augusta. The only reason why they sell thier parts for cheaper than most other places is because they own two salvage yards in Japan. When you buy a motor from them, they provide just about everything that came in the engine bay and they warranty their parts. Also, they can tell you the exact mileage and stuff like that.

Not all ebay stores are "bad"

If money isnt a problem why not both? One can be a DD and the other a toy.

Ok. Since when do you HAVE to buy a front mount intercooler, or HAVE to have a $300 radiator?. And you most definitely don't HAVE to get a turbo timer...
That cuts that price alone back down to $3675 if you do it your expensive way, and have nothing at all to do with putting it in yourself.

I do agree that he should get a clip because it does save some trouble, but its not necessary for some of these things like a turbo timer and a front mount to get started.

Buy a front clip (as stated before, 2400 bucks.) and have it put in. Puts you right about 3200 if you have somebody do it, 3000 if tyler does.

i like SR's. but yea, might as well spend more money on the SR and get one with a good guarantee. mine blew, and the seller wouldn't honor his warantee. didnt even get to drive the thing. and when you get the SR, just to be on the safe side, just go ahead and put a new oil pump and water pump in it. mine are both bad, haven't got the money to get them yet. as far as wiring goes, you can do all thatr yourself, i did. mine started, then the motor blew from compnent failures. www.HeavyThrottle.com has a wiring guide. all you need is a soldering iron, electrical tape, and the stock KA harness to hack up.

Get a ca18det, you can get one for $1000. Plus you can get all your replacement parts at your parts store from an 88 pulsar NX, and a 200sx turbo. Research it, youll find is actuly a really nice enigne.

There is no need to buy a front clip for a sr20 swap. you dont even use any of the wiring or anything off of it.
