I saw a 1JZ on Osakajdmmotors for $800.00 and the 2JZ for $1700.00. I know the 94-98 Supra was 320 HP. If the 1JZ is the same horse power then thats a hell of a deal if you have something to put the 1JZ in right? Like maybe a 93 up GS300?

How much does a 1jz soarer for?..

First off it is 1JZGTE.

1JZGTE = 2.5 liter
2JZGTE = 3.0 liter

The 1JZ is cheaper, but like Mr. KiDD said, they are not as strong. The big thing about the 1JZ is that it was a Japan only motor, and parts are harder to find.

Come on Mike... You know it's a little more complicate than that~ ;)

2JZGTE = Supra and Aristo (Jap version of GS300)
Aristo = 2JZGTE with VVT-i (intake side)
Altezza (Jap version of IS300) = 3SGE (non-boosted I-4)
IS300/GS300 (USDM) = 2JZGE (non-boosted version w/ VVT-i on intake side)
Soarer (Jap version of SC300) = 1JZGTE
SC300 = 2JZGE (non-VVT-i)

+ there are 10-12 different trannies that are used amongst those models...

Yeah but alot of parts are interchangeable with the 2JZ...

Plus you can always go for the 1.5JZ-GTE :goodjob:

Damn sounds like yall know your shit. I would like to boost a IS300. Nothin real crazy. Im looking for the right IS now. I know who all to go to when I do find one.

Just to let you know.

A full (USDM Supra) 2JZGTE isn't a straight drop in like most people think. It's a lot of wiring work, custom driveshaft, engine mount, + many other things to make it work. Only a handful of guys went thing route.

Now a (JDM Aristo) 2JZGTE bolts in fine, but still the wiring get pretty complicated...

1JZGTE swap on an IS... Never seen or heard about.

**Most popular and and common thing is going NA-T. Changing the bottom end to a GTE one + turbo kit from a company**
Some companies well known amongst IS community:
PFS, SRT, TurboEast, + others.

If you are really interested in an IS, I would suggest going to IS.net and search around. Now if you want to expand and research other models, i.e. SC300 or 1st gen GS300 than I would recommend going through clublexus for information (2JZ/1JZ-GTE swaps are more common on those models).

Even for "nothing real crazy" you are going to get fairly deep in time/money. Even if you stick to NA-T you will need to be prepared to swap the tranny if you are making any kind of decent power. You will also need to address the higher compression of the stock IS 2JZ and the VVTi tuning in higher RPMs.

Does 6-10K for 350-400rwhp seem worth it? Maybe. Maybe not. I personally think boosted IS300s are one of the best packages out there, but it's nothing to just jump into. As mentioned before take some time on IS.NET to read through some of the members experience with boost and what they had to do to get at what power level they are at with decent reliability.

Thats a really good site. I have seen turbo kits for the IS for around 4k. I thought about getting one and run low boost. I dont have to be the fastest car in town. I just want to have a lil fun. I have played with nothing but Hondas and Im lookin for something else to mess with.

Price of the kit != price of tuning/driving/building boosted IS.
