Some info on Atlanta Motor Speedway
A majestic structure situated on 870 acres in Hampton, Ga., just 25 miles south of Atlanta. Atlanta Motor Speedway is one of the country's top sports and entertainment facilities. For the Redline: TIME ATTACK! we'll be racing the full 2.5-mile (4 km) FIA approved road course. Atlanta Motor Speedway has boasted the highest speeds on the NASCAR circuit, with a typical qualifying lap speed of about 193 mph (311 km/h) and a record lap speed of over 197 mph making this track the fastest in NASCAR. We'll be letting some of the fastest tuner cars in the world loose on this track--to see what car truly is the fastest time attack car ever built. This will be the first Time Attack ever to be held on a superspeedway/FIA approved circuit. Redline once again will be making TIME ATTACK history!

You will NOT want to miss this event! This will be the only time until next year that you get a chance to see top teams competing in a true, national level,Time Attack event in the South East. I'm not talking about the NASA time trials they conveniently like to call time attack events (they are NOT time attack events). Big teams, fast cars, media coverage.. all on a grand scale at Atlanta Motor Speedway. A facility that VERY rarely opens the road course to the public. This is your chance. :-)

The Redline Time Attack event, scheduled for August 25th-26th at Atlanta Motor Speedway has been canceled. After taking numerous factors into consideration the leadership at Redline Track Events, LLC has a made a decision they believe is in the best interest of all parties involved. After careful consideration of possible track safety issues brought to the attention of Redline staff, as well as a commitment by Redline to host high quality events, Redline believed it was the best decision to cancel this year’s event at Atlanta Motor Speedway and focus all efforts on the remaining three events this year.
Redline Track Events has earned a reputation for organizing safe and high quality motor sports events since 2001. Redline owes it to the supporters of their events (drivers, sponsors, teams, media, spectators, etc) to offer the highest quality and safest events possible. Following the Gateway International Raceway event, where 3 cars were severely damaged due to the course layout and lack of run-off room, Redline believes the increased banking and much higher speeds at Atlanta Motor Speedway prove to be too much of a risk to justify holding the event at the facility.
All drivers who have registered for the event will receive a complete refund of the registration costs. For those who were looking forward to a Redline Time Attack event in the South East, Redline has already begun working to secure a date at Road Atlanta in 2008. We appreciate all of the support from those who registered for the event and who helped to promote the event. We look forward to seeing you at Road Atlanta in 2008.

"3 cars were severely damaged due to the course layout and lack of run-off"

How about lack of driver ability? This is the only time I have ever heard someone blaming a track for their damaged cars... If you keep it on the track you don't smack the wall. I know it's a new concept.

This sucks. I was looking forwards to going to a non-drifting event. Oh well.
