but i am a yamaha boy! they had a hand making the 3sgte for anyone that didn't know!...and the 2zz-ge, plus all the beams engines, then a few years i ago drove to all the dealerships looking for the matrix with the yamaha engine to run the hell out of just for fun. They also had a hand in the Ford Taurus SHO engine....lol.

I see no proper tire wear on any of those bikes -- i wanna see beads of rubber rolled up on the edges...on the front and rear tires

I used to work at a kawasaki dealership and when someone wanted a nice helmet, this is how it usuall went:

Me: This is a nice full face helmet. It is DOT and SNELL approved.
Squid: How much?
Me: $400
Squid: DAMN! You got anything in the $100-$150 range?
Me: Can I ask you a question?
Squid: Shoot
Me: How much is your face and head worth to you? About $100-$150?
Squid: so....about that $400 helmet....

Its amazing where some people choose to cut corners...

Its amazing where some people choose to cut corners...exactly, same thing with guns -- I wouldn't buy or use anything less than a Glock or H&K...then see people going into stores wanting chrome pea shooters all the time and still gripe about the $200 price tag, lolol. If i'm gonna be carrying and using an explosive object in front of my face it sure as hell better be quality made.

The helmets all the drivers i've crewed for run about $700 each, plus another $1,000 to 1,200 for the Hans device...and they are in a car. Then a guy that's going to be riding just as fast at times on the street on a bike with traffic going both directions wants a $150 helmet, lol.

Seriously i am scared....4/5 of them have NEVER been on a bike and have NEVER even touched a motorcycle...

My friend dropped his suzuki yesterday just trying to get it moving.... :(

Truthfully my best friend almost lost his life 2 years ago....it could've been a horrific accident but he ended up surviving with all limbs (paralzyed arm) he told me that the pain hurts so bad he is going to amputate his arm.....

Our deal is if he amputates his arm i will get a motorcycle......The surgery was an almost $200,000 surgery and all that will go to waste.....he even had a street light put at the road he wrecked on and even got the speed limit changed.....

but please guys pray for my friends.....I am honestly scared for them.

Have them get good gear and carry full coverage insurance with medical....

that cant be stressed enough

it looks like atleast 1-2 of them have access to a trailer, i would suggest having them trailer the bikes to an empty parking lot (a school parking lot is more or less empty this time of year) and get the basics down before attempting street riding....and for god sakes have gear and dont wear tennis shoes, shorts, and tshirts, thats just a recipe to turn them into a giant scab

or better yet ask them to take a riding course of some sorts, especially seeing as how most of them have dreamed about riding, every squid thinks they are invincible, ive been riding bikes/dirt bikes most of my life and had an accident just last year, its not a matter of if, its a matter of when its gonna happen

gook luck to them all. having good insurance with good medical is going to cost a lot. i just did a quote on a 03 r6 and with good medical almost costs me 400$ a month. and with brand new bikes to pay off it's not going to be easier.

You can't control everyone around you.

Then when you're a completely in experienced rider, you can't even control yourself -- the first time they touch that front brake in a turn they're gonna high side themselves...

Nice bikes :goodjob: But it would have made ALOT more sense to buy a cheaper/older/smaller bike first, and spent the money saved on some good gear. Never being on a streetbike, let alone any bike is dangerous. I hope we don't hear about them on the news soon, ride safe ;)

hahaha i love seeing kids get a brand new bling bling 600 as their first bike, lay it down in the parking lot, not sooo bling bling anymore. but seriously you need to tell your friends to take it easy, i hate seeing new riders try things that they dont know how to handle and end up killing themself and put other people in danger.
as for me i started on a GS500 suzuki as my first bike. trashed, spent 1200 dollars on it. glad i did since i dropped it many times before i really got the hang of it. after 2 years on a GS500 and then a short period on a SV i finally moved up to a real 600.

I hate to lecture, but to me, this is a recipe for disaster. Don't get cocky... you've only been riding for 9 months; there are guys who kill themselves after 10 years of riding. The "BS shit" you got is well-founded, and from people who care about you, no matter how much it may seem like they're just hating. If they didnt care, they wouldnt warn you.... and to make it worse, you admit that you "ride like a fool". You must think its funny now, and you probably feel damn-near invincible... but you wont when you take a spill. Dont be brash... or it will come back and bite you in the ass.

Wikipedia FTW

"A squid is an irresponsible motorcyclist. The term is derogatory and common among motorcyclists in North America and is generally associated with a new or reckless motorcyclist seen riding erratically and/or beyond his or her capabilities, often without appropriate riding gear.

The origin of the word is varyingly attributed:

A contraction of:
"Squirrely" and "kid" (possibly taken from California surfing culture), or
"Squished" and "kid", or
"Squished" and "idiot"
An acronym for:
"Stupidly Quick, Underdressed, Ignorant and Dangerous", or
"Stupidly Quick, Underdressed and Imminently Dead"
Note: both of these are likely to be backronyms "

re-fucking-diculous if you get full coverage. I got quoted 12K a year on an R1 back when my driving record was a little worse. If you get liability only, its like $30/mo.

In some states, and I know GA was included at one time on this list but I'm not sure now, you don't have to insure bikes.... I know that sometimes they're considered commodities and if you have homeowner's, they are covered... not sure if GA is still one of those states or not.

it depends. my insurance is cheap because i owe less than 5 grand on the bike which means i dont have to get full coverage on it. my insurance averages out at $40 a month
