My wife will be back in town next weekend and is really wanting for us to join a gym. I am looking mainly at LA and Bally, because those are the only 2 that I know that I have friends going to. Anyone have any opionions/insight/suggestions on them? How much are you currently paying?

Any gym is going to be a drive - I'm in Doraville. There is only one close to me, and I'm not going to it. So I have to drive 5 miles to any gym. Workouts on weekdays.

LA fitness would be my suggestion, as long as you don't plan on going during the 4-8pm window strictly to get in a serious workout, since it's really packed during those hours. it's a great place to go though, plenty of really cool people there, lots of people to play basketball with, and the pool and sauna are always good after a workout(avoid the jacuzzi, fat old dudes tend to congregate there and read novels while they piss in the water)

I like both LA Fitness and Gold's gym. But i prefer Gold's b/c they are not as packed as LA, it seems to me, it doesn't matter what time of the day i went, LA Fitness is always packed ( the one on sugarloaf )

Peachtree Corners is the area that I am in mostly, and down around Lenox. LA seems to be the closest, but the busiest.

You could also try Lifetime Fitness, as theyre like La fitness on steroids as well as being open 24 hours a day. Personally though Im with LA fitness, cause Lifetime charges $60/month, eek!

I went to bally's today.
It's so fucking expensive.
the 19 dollar deal is a 36 month contract where you have to pay that 19 dollars every month for the 36 months.
I wanted a 1 month membership and the least they could offer was 120 for 2 people (my brother and I) for ONE FUCKING MONTH.
Gold's Gym is even worse. 100 bucks each because you dont pay activation fee, you pay 1st and last month up front.
I go to Affordable fitness in Newnan for 8 dollars a month+ 20 bucks activation. Or Body Max gym in Senoia that my best friend's parents own.
But im in Washington DC... cant go to those gyms.
I dont need help with diet, exercise, or anything of the sort.. if you could find me a gym that is actually worth 50-100 bucks PER MONTH, i'd do it.. But Bally just isnt.. and i cannot see paying that shit.

Lifetime fitness could be worth $60 if you were to use all of its features. E.g. racquetball, squash, pool (inside and out), spa, rock climbing wall, basketball, and 24 hour availability.

but even if i didnt want to use those features, just the weight room, its still the same price.
