Sooo....anyway..it has been a nice run on here. Ive met alot of awesome people through here and met some other not so awesome people at the same time.

As a few of you know, I got fired a few days ago from my job. Basically what happened is that a coworker/manager by default (owners son) is 21 going on 22 and was talking to a 14 year old (8th grader). Well before i started working one of our locations, we had close to a $400 drawer shortage. When it was "finally" discovered a few months ago, due to the fact that my owners son didnt do his bookkeeping responsibilities, we both agreed not to tell his dad about the shortage until we got it caught back up. Anyway, last week he got busted by the 14 year old for lying about some completely retarded shit and due to me not siding with HIM, he tells his dad that "our drawers ~$140 short. Steven just bought a new laptop...blah blah blah". Well the week before, i had to run the store since he went on vacation. I come in last friday to work and his dad bitches me out saying that If i didnt like my job to go ahead and quit because he didnt like theives and liars working for his company. I have NEVER taken shit from the company and have gone above and beyond to help them (104 mile round trip drive UNCOMPED FOR GAS) when i was working 5 minutes from my house originally. So i get told by owner that hes going to reveiw security tapes at which point i calmly say "feel free too...theres nothing on them that will incriminate me on anything and if you are going to fire me, i will go ahead and pack my stuff and clean my desk". Monday, i get a phone call saying that he isnt holding me responsible for the missing cash since his son fucked up and the drawers been short before. Even after he blatently accused me of stealing fromt he company, he offered no apology after he found out that it wasnt me. Needless to say, i really didnt feel like being there anymore. Tuesday, i came down with a really nasty sinus infection and went to the doctor on wednesday since i couldnt breathe and felt like shit. I told my owner wedendsay morning that i was taking the rest of wednesday and thursday off since the DR gave me two shots and i felt like ass (atleast my sinuses were getting better). When i tell him this, he told me that if i did feel better, go to my buford store (the 52 mile one way trip) and if i didnt, that was fine, just show up friday to lawrenceville. Thursday rolls around and i went to go run some errands and go with cramerisking on here to go get his car registered. 3" straight exhaust FTW. Anyway, i get back and my girlfriends mom calls me saying that my coworker told her i got fired (she works 2 doors down from us in the same strip). I IMMEDIATELY call my owner and he makes up some shit about how since i was "no call no show" he couldnt depend on me anymore and that "you arent B&D material" even though i was 2nd in sales in the entire company (only behind my service manager who has 6 corporate accounts) and tells me that im fired.

Ive been wanting to get out of that hellhole for a while since its owned by bible beating hypocritical ass christians and ran like shit and they have no customer service ethics so now ive actually got motivation to move on.

As even fewer of you know, my senior year i aced not only the preASVAB but aced the real asvab as well. The ONLY thing that kept me from going military was knowing that i was going to leave my sister and family behind. The last two weeks however though, ive been working out a lot more than what i have (dropped 18 pounds ) and i have gotten back in touch with one of my old recruiters and he works at MEPS now so now ive got an appointment in three weeks to go retake my physical and they want me to retake the REAL asvab test again. Basically if i make over a 90 percentile, i can get intel assignments.

Right now im just frustrated alot in the fact i keep working for shitty ass companys and not getting anywhere in them when im ALWAYS first or second in sales. The military option makes things look a bit brighter right now other than getting shot at. If i dont have another job in two weeks, i will be getting a shipout date shortly there after.

So hopefully this answers a few of your guys questions as to why i havent been on alot lately. If you havent noticed, thats fine also, im just getting tired of 10 PM's a day of "where the hell you been?"

After i figure out what the hell im doing with my life again, ill come back (hopefully soon).

Im going to miss you guys and what not.

Thanks for all the memories

believe me, that and my outrageously large sign on are BOTH in writing. Ive actually had a lawyer look over all of it. Im not going into details on the sign on but they normally break it down into part of it after basic, part after half term, and part at end term...my sign on is 20k more than what Ive heard/seen elsewhere and i get 50% after basic, 50% after 3 years...its getting hardder and harder to turn down

kinda sort of not really. I worked for an agent. Basically i did sprint and nextels shitty work they didnt want to do. I sold phones and did tech work and listened to customer piss and moan about how we fuck them blah blah blah. I mainly focused on aircards for a few companys to have internet access anywhere and dealt with a few accounts in the builder industry.

to think about joining the military because you feel theres no way out or whatever I think is the wrong idea...

this is truly the only post that is worth a damn in this whole thread.

I deal with this on a daily basis, and to be 100% honest with you, this is why you have so many awol's and deserters...because they join the service for all the wrong reasons.

So before you sign in at meps....and meps sucks so much balls by the way...it's all a hurry up and wait game....sit down and really think about it...you are about to sign up for a commitment, this is a voluntary army....so if you sign and later run, you will be prosecuted.

Something I tell alot of future soldiers is, nothing in the Army or any branch of service is written in stone...things can change all the time with or without warning, because you are a worker bee, and you do as told.

if you have any doubts, don't sign. If you think you are a hardass and have somekind of attitude going in....you will be in for a rude awakening because your life will be miserable in the military.

if you said you scored a 90+ on your first asvab, and you want to do intel, because from the sounds of it...don't seem like you want to be the fighting type....talk to the Air Force and Navy recruiters when you are at Meps, look at all your options....I will tell you this now though, basic training for both AF and Navy are considerably easier and shorter than Army and Marine basic training....enlisted life for AF and Navy is also better than Army and Marines....I'm not saying you sit around and eat coffee and donuts all day, but your overall living conditions will be much nicer than Army/Marines.

Goto meps, take your asvab, do your physical, and talk to the army, navy, and air force recruiters, you do not have to sign anything unless you want too. It's perfectly normal to go there and leave and come back some other time to swear in, Don't be enticed by bonuses....you are taxed 28% on them, and that should not be a weighing factor of joining any branch...

there are a few other guys on this site that are in the military or are prior service, I'd listen to them, but everyone else who says that their dad or brother or cousin is all hersay...they haven't been there or done it...and you will also learn that "military brats" act like they know it all, but actually know nothing at all

AznTraitor
07-14-2007, 01:48 PM
As far as the sign on goes they offered, its $80k...IN WRITING...$40k after basic, the rest after three years

BS. Please show me or break it down to me how you are getting a 80k enlistment bonus. A fucking 92F (petroleum specialist) one of the most high risk jobs is only getting like 25k right now, and the highest it reached was 40k. Because I've yet to hear about such a high enlistment bonus, and it's not on any of the military websites offering that much.

and you do not get half of your enlistment bonus until you complete basic training and successfully finish your ait training the first go around and become mos qualified, and generally then once you reach your unit of assignment it'll take anywhere from 30-90days...so you do not get it right after basic

So I'd like to know how you are getting paid more than ANY re-enlistment bonus or any high demand mos's with the extra bonuses tacked on....I did the math, any even with all the highest extra incentive bonuses you do not even touch the 60k region.

so please, do tell.

Nah, my brother was in the Marines. They are good for killing; don't really teach you a lot of job skills though. While Air force is mostly technical, that you can carry into commercial aviation and get PAID!!!!

You seriously need to stop talking like you have ANY sense about military knowledge, because you have not given ANY correct information.

First and foremost, how do you know about ANY military training if it is hard or not? Because someone told you? So you never experienced it for yourself first hand? No? then shut up, you have no idea about any of it.

Marines, all start as a fighting soldier first and foremost....they are all trained as an infantryman first and then go onto learn a specific MOS, now if your brother chose to be only an infantryman then it's pretty obvious he would not be getting any other real world training besides clearing rooms, and squad tactics. Marines have plenty of other jobs! I have MANY buddies who are aircraft maint, paralegal's, and infantryman's.....

Air Force is not mainly technical, for some odd reason everyone thinks if you join the air force you fly or sit behind a computer...how many planes do you actually think the AF has? they have plenty of non technical jobs that are important from loading armaments to the planes, to fueling them, to wiping down the cockpit....those are not technical by any means.....a transport plane deck man is not technical but very important....So please tell me, how someone who loads armaments onto jets can take that into the commercial aviation and get paid? Only job that can get you paid in commercial aviation is fuel, mechanic, and pilot...that is all.

Reading all your post in this thread just make me cringe on just how misinformed you are and how you pass it along like you know it so well....

I don't give a fuck who you know, where they been, or what they said....YOU do not know, YOU have no been there, so YOU have nothing but what you heard thru the grapevine.

If you want to join and get some good training and serve the country, and get some money for school then I'm all for it! You sound like you know what you are getting yourself into, and have the right reasons.

If anyone is serious about joining any of our armed services from border patrol to coast guard, to the military....all the information you ever need is out there...all you have to do is look, and talk to people! You can talk to recruiters because though they can sugar coat some things, they are the people who process your initial paperwork, but there are many of other soldiers who can answer your questions...I know myself, and quite a few other IA members who have served can answer your questions, but before asking....do a little footwork first and find the answers for yourself, because that's an adult should do anyways.

everyone needs to get out of the mindset that everyone in the marines is a killer, everyone in the air force flies an fighter, everyone in the navy is gay, and everyone in the army is a bullet catcher....
