Actually, since he was really lucky with trades and is doing all of the work himself, the build will be very very cheap. I don't think it will break 4k if I remember correctly.
The first time I heard about this build was when Travis (the owner and guy in the video) showed me the pictures on his blackberry.

looks like he just built a frame to house a vette motor that a civic body could fit on
props to him for accomplishing it

Now, ive seen some crazyness w/ Vette engines, such as a twin turbo C5 in a volvo. But honda civic. It looks like this car is turning out well. Good luck

Whatever he traded had to cost him money sometime down the road. And last time I saw a complete C5 drivetrain it was going for over $15k. This guy obviously has much more than $4k in it.

You can read the thread, it is a really really really cheap build for him.

i had a family member buy a totaled c5 vette for $2k at an auction in jefferson. they put the drivetrain in an old truck.
btw i saw this car in person this past weekend. it runs but the inside is ugly as hell. lol. the dash and steering wheel are about 2 feet further back than a stock civic so its in the middle of the door opening. the rear wheels tuck but the fronts stick out like 4 inches. so it will need some flares or something. its an awesome idea but it needs alot of work
