a slightly higher compression version of this made 280whp on the west coast with much more open exhaust. don't forget this is a n/a honda.

just a little something i tuned today at mainstream. props to charles and the customer on the selection of product and setup.

btw...i tuned the other all motor record holder at mainstream a couple years ago.

it's a 4cyl n/a, i/h/e, cams. i can't disclose anymore until i get ok from the cust. could've made more w/o the restrictive exhaust.

judging by the TQ its AT LEAST a 2.2l, perhaps an H series?

175 Ft/LBS at 3000 rpms, this has to be on RACE gas and it has to be a BIG motor with BIG cams LOL

ehhhhhhh so what, there is a guy in VA beach building 270WHP on LS Vtec motors all day on PUMP GAS. It is easy to get to 250WHP in a 4cylinder. people just don't want to spend all the money cause you can buy a turbo and get past 250WHP with less money

we have a car that will pull similar numbers, it has my old bottom end.

but that still doesnt take away from a K series with LIMITED mods putting down numbers that can pilot a 2000lb chassis to 11.0s

wow.. the buzz is pretty exciting! i never planned on making this much noise. yes yes.. im the guy from VA. you must be on clubrsx too. didnt really get a chance to push the car cuz it was raining. i'm not really into the numbers game.. but im sure without the restrictions we could have made a lot more power. mad props the they guys at Mainstream Performance! charles and scotty!!

tony at skunk2 was a lot of help and very easy to get the info for what we needed.

i was very surprised that this car practically idles like stock and was very easy to tune...i was expecting the total opposite.

I was very impressed with these numbers considering the amount of mods and streetablity of the car. I say this because the car idles like stock, sounds like a nicely modded import (not so loud you can't think), and drives like a champ. I would love to have a car that makes this much power and yet you can still roll up the windows, crank up the cold a/c, and listen to the radio. Again this car has a off the shelf bolt-on small exhaust. I think with what Jay wants to do with the car the nice powerband is what he needs. I just don't see trying to make a drag car with the nice leather seats that are in it.

I know a guy that had a 80's si runnin a b20 bock, and 13.5:1 comp, and he was pulling an 11.70 quarter mile, and it wasnt a stroker.

you still have the b-series and will probably hold on to it since it makes more sense now to do the k-series in the long run since it's a more flexible setup.

Chunky's over analyzation of engine building is what I say keeps his from staying together. He sure knows how to blow a motor though. I bet if you put that swap in a ek,eg,dc it makes 5-10 more whp with nothing changed other than the header. Any takers? Ask mike how my STOCK swapped hatch faired against chunkys built camed motor. Hell I could probably go to work and pull up the runs off of the server at work.

This is damn good for off the shelf parts. I say 280-290ish(on race gas) is all that can be attained with off the shelf parts, but thats still badass. The pro stock guys are over the 350whp range and probably close to the 4's. But you are talking a whole different ball game.

Plus I give you huge props for not being an IPS nut swinger. Yeah that guys is a badass but all his products are SO over hyped that people are not open minded enough to try other things. Not to mention his prices keep going up and is very slow on production. I bet that intake manifold he designed a year or 2 ago still isnt on the market and some what easily available. Skunk needs to come out with a "pro" series cam for the k series that are a little more towards the less streetable cam like they have for the B series.

ITBs arent that big of a power gain up top, thy are mostly MIDRANGE power unless sized properly.

This motor made 253 through an off the shelf greddy exhaust. if he went open header, he will see a big gain, its common knowledge.

but hes not in search of power he just wants to drive it.

at least thats what he told me.

the motor is in an RSX. yes... im just interested in driving the car and racing has a hobby. and yes... i offered Mainstream Performance, and i'll offer any other reputable shop to use my car if they're interested in the numbers game. there's still sooooo much more potential to this motor. higher compression pistons, stroker kit, open header, itb, race gas, pnp head... yeah.. the list goes on.. prolly can see 300+. if there's money to be made by doing this.. then lemme know!

My motor that you call "built" was a k20a2 with stock everything except pistions, which were 11.5:1 ITR. I had stock cams. You never ran me with the ITR cams (I made 214 with ITR cams on my current bottom end btw). At the time, you had the better header, and that was probably the difference between our motors. As you know, I've got a more properly built motor now that made 225 SAE (230+ STD) last time it was on the dyno.

The reason why I blow shit up is b/c I'm not worried about trying new parts/techniques out. If it blows, I just rebuild it.

Anyhow, like I said, I'll be back to dyno with a few new goodies and hopefully set a new 2.0L n/a mark. I don't think I'll have quite enough to take the undisputed all motor record, but I should have enough to take the 2.0L n/a record.

Mike has been revving his boosted k24a2 out to 8500 for over a year now with a lot of track time as well. No ill effects yet.

You can rev the piss out of the k24, but in this case, the motor just wasn't making anymore power after about 8000. I bet the power would have just flattened, but not fallen if you had continued to rev.

Yes you did hit it, but they where the 1st too set it and noone has broken it yet, so yes you get credit for matching their number, but you just did something that someone in GA did before you, so really noone has broken their recored yet,since they where the 1st to set it..

Dave and i are pretty good friends, he made 237 like 3 years ago. i made the same numbers, we never got to compare decimals :lmfao:

He did have a F motor and it made over 300whp, but it was carbed and i dont think it was on GAS, i think it was meth or alchohol and i dont think it dynoed locally.

I did see his SOHC motor make 19x whp :eek:

I mean its whatever, we can say we tied, we can see im second. it doesnt really matter to me, i dont really think about it much anymore. i dont own any hondas :)
