View Full Version : Best Looking Engine Bays
VooDooXII

I'm gonna say whatever for this one...factory and...non-factory. What do you think are the best looking engine bays.
Alfa Romeo's 3.2 liter V-6 is SEXY.
http://www.italiaspeed.com/2005/cars/alfa_romeo/02/arese/alfa_romeo_32_v6_gta.jpg
Bentley Continental GT/Flying Spur. Those little bolts have the Bentley "B" embossed in the heads.
http://us1.webpublications.com.au/static/images/articles/i29/2971_2mg.jpg
Of course...GM's LS1/2/6/7. They all look the same, but I like the LS7's red heads.
http://z.about.com/d/cars/1/0/Z/O/sp_06z06_eng.jpg
The Ferrari 599's V12 is gorgeous...perfectly symmetrical.
http://www.topspeed.com/cars/ferrari/IMG/jpg/e/engine-3.jpg
Ford Mustang Mach 1...only for the shaker hood. I like the scoop.
http://www.autobytel.com/images/carPics/TestDrv/Lyons/500/2004_Mach1_engine.jpg
Ford Taurus SHO. Laugh all you want...I think it looks bad-ass.
http://www.shoshop.com/sho/images/SHOEngine.jpg
Lamborghini Diablo 6.0. I like the gold.
http://www.lamborghiniregistry.com/Diablo/Diablo60SE/1LA12711eng.jpg
McLaren F1...again, the gold. That was real 24k gold...probably the reason this car cost so much. :screwy:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/5d/1996_McLaren_F1_engine.jpg/800px-1996_McLaren_F1_engine.jpg
Pagani Zonda F. I love the car...and it's got an engine worthy of display. I love that brace.
http://www.diseno-art.com/images/Pagani-Zonda-F-Roadster-engine.jpg
Rolls Royce Phantom. It looks very sinister...matches the exterior well.
http://www.carbodydesign.com/archive/2006/07/07-rolls-royce-phantom-black/Rolls-Royce-Phantom-Black-engine-lg.jpg
Spyker C8...same reason. Everything on this car is a work of art. Yea, it's an Audi V8...but they prettied it up well.
http://www.ritzsite.net/Spyker/2001_Spyker_C8_Laviolette_coupe_eng.JPG
I definitely like this one for the header. Saw it in person at the Varsity. :goodjob:
http://www.importatlanta.com/upload/files/366/pics/IMG_4173%20%28Medium%29.JPG
There was also an RSX block with a painted head...looked like plates of metal bolted together. I remember seeing it on here and that paint-work looked cool as shit! Post the picture if you know what I'm talking about.

One of the reasons the McLaren F1 was so expensive is that the exhaust is it's crashbar for the rear.

If you want to split hairs...the McLaren's and the Phantom's are both BMW V12 engines. Speaking of which...I really like the 850CSi's V12.

HypnoToad...+1 for the Lotus Esprit! :goodjob:
Oh wait...I can +2 now!
Six2Six :lmfao: I can't stand how Lexus covers ALL of it up. Interesting though...plus it helps for sound-deadening.
KDM...take the cover off! Haha

ATL86...DAMN!
I love the LS2...don't miss the eagle!
Good call on the Carrera GT.
I knew someone would post the Veyron's block. That is an impressive piece of engineering...however, I think it looks a bit plain. I bet if I saw it in person...my thoughts would change. I wonder how big they are.

So I think for me, a sexy engine bay has...
-Badging
-Shiny twisty headers, either chrome or discolored from heat
-ITBs! Thank you Eric for explaining what those were.
-Symmetry

I agree w/ Julio on Tim Wests ...its the blue on the chrome that just pops. Reminds me a lil of my Si in 2000-2001. Also Jeff Gs is hot for the smooth metal work, and chrome everything.

I pretty much hate everyshot in this thread with plastic over top of the motors. It's tacky, and shouldn't be there. When I open the hood of a car, I want to see MOTOR. Not fukkin plastic. I was lookin at a Zo6 at a dealership, and HATED it when I opened the hood.
