I can remember wayyyyyy back in the day when this was a community board. When founders like Pablo would come out to North GA and chill with our parties..and it was all good...

but now its a business unfortunatly, I know web hosting is not free. But if you have a website with alot of users.... things tend to get taken advantage of (LIKE THIS). I can agree with the rules, since it adds value to the sellers, all but the 200 posts/50 rep points.

more like 100 posts, and 25 would be more resonable...

As well as the $10 for a 30 day limit- Autotrader will sell your car better than that, hell Ron would do better than that! I would rather place an add there for more than here for $10 unless if it was a custom car. Beside, always can have a buddy post your stuff for sale.

I say if you pay $10 to use a 1 of 123123124 forums on the internet.. then you can do what the hell you please.

*Craigslist is just as effective, and its 110% bullcrap free*

If you don't like it then don't sell here.. unfortunately too many people have messed it up for everyone else and this had to be implemented..

Can agree on that half. Just makes you mad when you are one of the honest ones.

OK so what do you do when you paid via PAYPAL and your post still gets locked?

Saying nice car to bad you didnt read the ruels!

If who ever locked my post would have read the post/rules. The first sentence said i paid via paypal, and had my email so if there was any doubt they could check to see if i really did pay!

We are working on that.. if you have paid by paypal and you look in your control panel it should say paid member, if it doesnt I would contact Julio or Admin and let them you know you did send the money and make sure it went to the right person... the best thing to do is pm the for sale mod who locked it and tell him you paid- he/she will verify with one of the admins and if/when it has been deemed you have paid your thread will be reopened..

how do you get rep points? i live in philly TN, and there are very few people in atl that know me..... and besides you can still vew the thread after you lock it, and if someone is interested they can send you a pm. so your really not stoping them..

This makes no sense, I've sold 4 cars and bought 2 off of IA and thats why I love this site. I hardly ever post because I'm more of a lurker and when I do post its always somethin pertinent not some retarded crap. Hell, I don't even know what a rep point is? I don't even have paypal either.

I understand having rules in place and such but this just seems pointless. If there should be a free spot on the board it should be the classifieds, charge people to use the whoreslounge or somethin that would cut down on way more BS.

I think it should be around 3-4 months of time rather than a full year. 3 months makes it pretty obvious that they didn't join the site just to sell something, especially if they still have 200+ posts.

I'm not sure how I feel about the required rep points, as these are more often than not given out for telling a joke, they don't really represent the character of the person at all. If anything, the more rep points you have either means:
A) You're a big name on the site

B) You tell jokes and "own" people (even those who have done nothing wrong) and other people find it funny

C) You start threads about things that people really like (videos, pictures, porn)

But generally it's B

I think if you required them to be higher than 10-20 that would be plenty.

But those are just some suggestions.

i think this is a little crazy, the thread you locked of mine was made 1 hour after this thread was oraginally made. why lock it now, and not then? that was like two months ago...

The Ren

If you have a problem with a thread you can send a pm to the mod who locked it..

The rules are a crock of sh*t.

I remember when IA went down and I lost my post count. I can remember thinking "who cares about post count, I'm not a post whore" and I did nothing to have my post count corrected.

Hell one time I had to remake my account entirely because of a crash. So thats twice I've lost post counts.

And this reps sh*t? I'm sorry I dont post videos of 1900 HP Supras crashing into deer while drifting in downtown Chicago. I havent paid much attention to repping but I dont think I've ever been repped once.

I used to get on and try and help people with their rotaries but its CRAP LIKE THIS that keeps me away from IA.

I can agree with resonable account age

IA calls itself "GA's Largest Automotive & Lifestyle Forum" ... looks like its all about the "Lifestyle" now ... It's all about the site now, not about the hobby.

Those who run IA have forgotten their roots. Hang your heads in shame.

the idiots who ask why their threads get locked still wont read this.

FCguy

When I thought about it a bit more it seems that the rules will hurt IA more than help the flea market.

500+ Post count = we only want post whores

100 rep points = we only want assholes that constantly "own" people or people who post great porn

This goes right along with what FCman was writing but you have to realise that you run off people who post when its important and welcome post whores. You run off those who embrace the idea of stepping into other people's shoes and welcome those quick to judge and "own people".

Rules like these draw the worst of people.

Some might ask me what I would do instead.

Again as FCman suggests, a 90 day account age would be quite enough. People dont want to sell their car 90 days from now ... they want to sell it NOW. There is no point to limit it to a full year.

Post count? Sure. In the rare case of those who can wait 90 days just to sell their car then a post count might help. 500? Hell no. 100 is much more practical. Not all of the contributing, well behaved members are on IA twice a day.

Reps? Hell no. Again this only promotes things like, "O you owned him!!! total reps!" or "awsome video, I love donkey shows ... REPS" or "awsome video, that 700ps Busa with like 400 kPa of boost must have egts of 1300 kelvin"
