I have a 1989 Rx7 Convertible. As you know 13b Motor. Just wanted to know what would be some main stuff i should be concerned about with this car, and some info on what i could do first with it?

Like what mods would you do first?
Whats some things that i should check for?
And to get it running to top shape, what maitnence is required?
Anything else you think i need to know would be appreciated. Thanks

Make sure there is always oil in it, and change it on schedule.

how many miles? rotary engines are supposed to have the seals changes like every 30k miles, according to my ASE book. i would replace all the gasets and seals, put a nice big turbo on it, lightweight driveshaft, sustec tension rods, some coilovers, nice beefy set of tires, carbon doors, hood, and trunk, new coat of paint, and a pretty blue manual boost controller. interior wise, some racing seats, a nice head unit, nice steering wheel, cluster lights, the required guages, and a short shifter.

never boost a 13B N/A unless u want a new motor to build,also...my RX-7 was running perfect at 66k miles, and they will run for another 200k if maintained right..and dont race it

Best advice i can give is take it to a Rotary shop, and get everything checked out

well, i would generally say if you were to build the motor for a turbo...it should be able to handle the boost. but honestly, do they come forged rotor or are they just cast?

They have a couple electrical issues. Ive seen some that have fan problems and such.

They are not bad cars at all if you maintain them. You should definately take it to MazMart or Mazcare and have them give it a good looking over. They will let you know if anything needs to be done immediately.

Just always keep in mind that the car takes special maintenance. If it didnt come with the owner's manual, find one or download one. There are some very specific directions in there to help prolong the life of your motor. I know one major thing is you need to let the motor warm ALL the way up to operating temp before driving.

The 13b is a great motor with lots of potential. Remember to ALWAYS run synthetic oil in it, the increased lubrication of the rotor's cam driven oil squirters greatly increases the engine's lifespan, and HP by 2-3%. Congrats on your purchase. :goodjob:

On the other hand, if you don't want the bish to blow up, use dinosaur juice. Your call.
