ok heres the deal, me and my wife are going to be changing from verizon to at&t in the next couple of days and it has been brought to my attention that i can get the phone i want, a blackberry pearl, for basically free from amazon.com with a new activation as long as i agree to a couple things, which are basic terms of agreement stuff, i have 2 questions...
by doing this can i....
A) go to the store after recieving my phone and add my wife onto the plan and get her a phone at that time
B) buy her phone, since she really wants the same one from amazon and have it added to my newly existing account after i have bought mine and it has been activated
if i cant do option B thats no biggy, but option A would have to work for sure, i dont want to end up with 2 seperate phone bills when we can share minutes for $10 more a month

dunno, call he AT&T store. i like T mobile myself. its cheap enough, i never lose signal, and the plans are pretty good. i got 1000 mins, nights & weekends (9pm-7am), and 400 texts for like $63. after airtime and bullshit gets added on i pay like $66.

A)Yes
B)Yes
If I were you, and Amazon is giving you such a good deal, i'd go for it. The only thing with doing that, is that i'm not sure if Amazon is like Wal-Mart. What I mean by that is that when you purchase a phone from Wal-Mart, they make you sign a 2 year contract with us AND a 2 year contract with Wal-Mart, so if you decide to break your contract, you gotta pay us the $175 cancellation fee and whatever Wal-Mart's cancellation fee is. The reason these places can offer phones for different prices is b/c they get them from a different distributor than we do, so they can sell them at whatever price they want :goodjob:

A) Yes you can, but if she specifically wants the Pearl too, I don't think any retailers have the Pearl for free even w/ a new 2 yr. agreement. (We had the Pearl for free during XMas promos, but the SKU got updated back to the original $149.99.)
B) If you go this route, she'd have to open a new account and then do a CR (Change of Responsibility) and have it added onto your plan.
If you want to keep your numbers and have them ported over to Cingular/AT&T, I recommend just getting Blackjacks cause they're half the price of the Pearls and have essentially the same features except the Blackjack runs off of Windows OS and the Blackberry of course runs off of RIM.
Hope this helps, if you have any more questions PM me.

Depends on what he's looking for. If he's looking for email reliability, the Blackberry would be what he should get. Also, a lot of people like the Pearl b/c it's "sleek" and more elegant than the Blackjack and not as big. Either way they're both good phones. The Blackjack is more of an entertainment machine compared to the Blackberry. BJ is funner :D :lmfao:
I'm assuming you work at an authorized retailer, which one?

I totally agree. I had a Pearl and actually liked the trackball and its email capabilities, but given a little more weight and a different OS, the Blackjack is the best bang for the buck.
yeah I work for SCK (Sam's Club Kiosk), it's basically a subsidiary of Radioshack. We're authorized to sell Sprint/Nextel, T-Mobile, Cingular/AT&T

Definitely the best bang for the buck. So do your contracts sign a contract with your kiosk and with AT&T? Or just with AT&T. I worked at Radioshack a few years ago :D

no they only sign the contract to the according service provider.
yeah it's not a hard job and the pay is good, but it's just something that pays rent.

I agree. It's only something to get me through college. They work with my hours, and it's easy and not manual labor haha. Retail FTL, I hate working weekends :(

ive actually decided to go with a bb880 instead of the pearl, my wife still wants the red pearl, why i dont know, she wont use it and it will cost me an extra $29/mo for the bs bb plan
the only reason im going with the 8800 over the pearl, unless someone can tell me otherwise, is that the 8800 has integrated gps so i dont have to buy a receiver like i would with the pearl....i use my gps features on my verizon phone daily, so thats a must, i thought about just doing google maps or static mapping, but im usually in bumfuck and dont know my way around, and finding food etc....looks like telenav is probably just as easy to use as the vznavigator through verizon
thanks for the input fellas...will be ordering the phones this week
p.s. if you choose a family plan when you order the first phone through amazon it gives you the option before hitting check out to add another phone, when i order i will be getting the 8800 and a red pearl for $.02 ;)

BJ > pearl..
The BB pearl is for people that want to look cute =] . I hate the damn ball in the middle...
Is a great phone.. But, I do not like the ball & qwerty Keyboard style the pearl has.
But, is def a good phone.

Very good price for both of those. Eh that 8800 looks more manly anyways, b/c personally I think the pearl is more for a female. Besides, you won't have a camera phone, you'll get used to it haha :goodjob:

yeah the 8800 is a great choice if you're using it more for business than play.
hope your transactions go smoothly and if not, I have all the customer service #'s that go directly to a representative and none of that automated number punching BS
