if yours looks like the second one, you need to remove the cover that is shown to the left if the little hand on the side.

Mine looks just like the top one. What does that mean? Did soemone switch out the intake manifold and throttle body for a type r setup? I am confused:???:

if you dont have the lobster claw looking manifold on your gsr then yes its been swapped. but not for a type r mani as they will not bolt on to your head. its most likely a blox or skunk2 manifold

It looks to be factory manifold. But the throttle body and the tb gasket look identical to a type -r tb and gasket???????? Did they do soemthing different in 2000????and 2001???????

they didn't do anything different in 2000 and 2001. someone must have swapped the TB. There must be a leak somewhere. Either that or the IACV is stuck open. even if the guy cleaned the screen on it, it could still get stuck. it is a solenoid, and sometimes they stick. If it is stuck open, then too much air is getting in, causing it to surge.

I will replace the gasket as soon as I can get one ordered.
