i have a b20 block and b16a2 head. if im going naturally aspirated for a while what compression should i run? Maybe 10.1? im buying cp or arias pistons and rings and eagle rods. i think those two piston companies are pretty respectable, right? i just want to get about 200whp all motor. i am going to go turbo in the future, but im not going to run more than 7-8lbs of boost. im just tryin to reach a goal of around 275-300hp at the wheels. because i heard the sleeves seem crack in the b20 at 500hp or 19 lbs of boost. i heard the b20 doesnt handle high revs in stock form, but with me building it i should be fine right?

How long do you plan on it lasting? why not get some nice low compression 8.5/1 or 9.1/1 CR pistons and then when you boost it you will have one less thing to worry ab. 10.1/1 is pretty high for turbo applications. My motor stock runs 10.5/1 and normally doesnt hold out past 5-6 psi....build it right the first time!!

10.1 pistons are fine for boost. best of both worlds for boost and daily'n. If you want high rev's, get your rods tanged for gsr bearings when you build it.( option ) Gsr bearings are one of the better material bearings honda makes.

yea 10 to 1 is about perfect for boost, its better to run big turbo on low boost for a higher CR block

If you plan on boosting it AT ALL (now or in the future) then sleeve the b20. I do not recommend boosting it at all. My .02.

where have you seen b20's on stock sleeves handle 500 HP or 19 pounds? just curious..

But as someone else said, get lower CP pistons the first time but it all depends on how much boost and how good of a tune you have.

x2 it's been stated before that a 10.1 is actually good for DD boosting. don't worry about compression unless you are about to succeed 10.5..all in all get a tune at the end of the day:goodjob:. just becareful of that b20 block

run like maybe 9.0:1 comp pistons. cause the head is already gonne decrease the comp a little. to much comp will just blow the head gaskets all the time. i dont know about 300whp with that motor at 7lbs though. it'd take alot of other stuff. get the head ported while its off. do the new valves, i think you can get some 1mm oversized valves. cam it while everything is out. and with the new pistons, you should be pretty close. turbo might actually suceed the 300who mark then.

theres a guy in my neighborhood, a little stupid though. he bought a b18 swapped white civic. like a '99 or so. went over a speed bump too fast and ran the motor dry of oil. then got a b20 swapped. i've heard that shit out on busbee pkwy. it sounds fuckin nice. i guess its blueprinted and balanced. but it sounds like a formula car. i say build it all motor and do it right, make it NICE

He probably put a Hiyabussa exhaust?

but it sounds like a formula car.

x2 on the sleeves. he only wanted 5-6 psi.

... then he thinks "hmmm, i want 7 - then 8". In fact, I wouldn't even build a serious N/A b20 (UNSLEEVED) - sideload is killer on those sleeves. The b20 is a truck motor and always will be w/out sleeves.

I've seen a B20 built with 11.5.1, tuned at balanced performance, made 196hp. He had it over 8 months or so, before selling it. I've seen B20/vtec tuned on 9psi, but dont knwo how long it lasted tho. I believe he will be fine at low boost. If it was me, I would do LS/Vtec over B20's any day.
