I got a speeding ticket 2 weeks ago for going 81 in a 45, me and another man got the same ticket, because we were racing, but the cop decided to just give us speeding. I am still waiting the court date and I'm new in GA anybody have any clue on what the judge might say about this, I'm 19 1st offense, and in the military. Some law advice told me not to pay the ticket because I would probably lose my license and shit, but if I go to court then the judge might lower my sentence, any body been in a situation like this before? Lemme know

Don't tell him you were racing- even though you should be in jail right now for that- Just pay it and go- it will be a shit-ton fine though I'm sure

Don't race on the street- that was a stupid decision on your part and I'm glad you got caught.

PS- thanks for serving though.

OK well it is what it is, I'm just wondering if anybody has any idea how the law works in southern GA, the fine is $400 if i just pay it and go, but then I lose my license and I'm not about to do that.

Since you are 19 I'd got to the judge- Go get your 5 year driving record from the DMV to show you have no other violations and try and plead with him. If you don't have your driving record form the DMV the judge wont do anything for you.

before anybody else tells me I could be sitting in jail, trust me He let me know that... when he said "Son you know I could cuff you right now for 3 offenses, I'm sure you first seargent wouldn't like that would he?" I am well aware.

Thank your james, nobody mentioned that to me yet, so I will do that for sure.

I was doing 115 in a 70.
30 over they put you in jail.
I haven't been to court, but their plea with me was a $1000 fine, suspension of license for 6 months, probation for a year, 40 hours community service and defensive driving.

Now, I have done 58 hours of community service, and did my defensive driving course and am now awaiting court. I can only hope my lawyer works his magic.

DONT pay off the ticket, your lawyer can do a lot for you, or your judge can be a douche and screw you over in every aspect.

thepolecat
06-23-2007, 10:17 PM
why were you doing 115?

btomic
06-23-2007, 10:35 PM
I was doing 31 over and cop just wrote it up, I don't have a lawyer but I dont feel like I need one, because its only 400 dollars and maybe license suspension, but could the judge decide that the ticket is worth more and make it worse like wreckless and stuff?

thepolecat
06-23-2007, 10:38 PM
no- he cant make it worse later- he can only make you deal with the maximum of the ticket that was written

btomic
06-23-2007, 10:41 PM
WOW! thanks alot! I hope thats right, because that sole question right there was really bothering me

u can get a lawyer for $400-$600. dont know about u but id rather pay that much rather than lose my license for 6 months.

Man there is nothing you can do, but hold it down and hope for the best. BTW I think you might loose your license bro, but your millitary record might work in this case....? You were going 36 over right then Good bye driving. :(

Yea but my supervisors talked to some legal advisors that we have, and they said usually if the person is 1st time offender and a good person, they will lower the sentence, to like 15 over so I wont lose and it, but give me like defensive driving courses or something.

you work at robins afb??? they may let you keep your license for work and/or school. youcan only drive if heading to work or school or coming back from them. this is only if you have a clean record up untill now.

Wow. It's nice that you can be light-hearted about this and be the smart ass about it. But remember. You're the idiot in this scenario. Not me. I hope you lose your license. And you mentioned in your initial post(first sentence) that you were racing. Dummy. I thought you had to be smart to get in the service. Guess they're desperate. Later, QD.

that all depends on which branch of the military.

that all depends on which branch of the military.

But if this guy works at Robbins AFB, then I would assume that Air Force would be the occupation. Unless he is a civilian employee. Later, QD.

Sorry, but when somebody tells me too bad i survived, I was like wtf? I would rather be a smartass then say it's too bad somebody survived..lol.. but for real it's just that I posted for help, not to hear how stupid I am and shit because I heard enough from that considering this went pretty far up my chain of command, and this is by no means an invitation to an arguement because thats not what I want to do.

and I work at Moody AFB

Well my opinion is for all "street racers." I'd much rather see a "street racer" dead than an innocent family. Later, QD.

You need to take defensive driving and then go to court. DD always helps.

first offense go in and plead first offender that is assuming this county has that law if not plead no lo both of them are basically the same thing y ou get like 1 no lo every like 5 or 10 years you just go in pay the fine. its like im not saying i did it but im not saying i didnt im just gonna pay for it.

btomic
06-24-2007, 01:44 PM
I heard about no lo, but I also heard that its not for people under 21

SL65AMG
06-24-2007, 03:45 PM
they will revoke your license ....pretty much a guarantee ...

probably an ass load in fines and a DD class...

btomic
06-24-2007, 04:02 PM
Most people I talk too, even legal advisors, said they will most likely lower my sentence enough for me to keep license, but it all depends on the judge and which side of the bed they woke up on that morning

You got lucky. If you're under 21 and you're doing 24+ over the speed limit its usually automatic suspension of your license. 36 over and he should've put you in cuffs and carried you off to a jail cell, and impounded your car.

I got 3 tickets within 3 months of getting my car. One for 19 over, 25 over and 14 over. I went to court and got them all dropped. Just go to the court date and talk to the DA, thats what I did. Or call Geico and find out when the next defensive driving course is, they do it cheap and take that in there. You dont have to have your driving record with you, I didnt any of the times.

Get a Blinder Laser Jammer. I've installed a few. They jam all laser guns. No radar, but almost nobody is using radar anymore. Got em on my web site

i got a radar detector/ laser scrambler off ebay. called a rocky mountain something. it works a lot better than i thought it would. it gets very good reaction time on radar, at least 10-15 seconds in most situations and ive never got a laser ticket so i guess its working there too. its cheap and works.

not 15 over. but the minimum to not lose your license. If they say you can plead nolo, you get one time. otherwise get a lawyer to not lose your license.

Oh shit you too... I was going 70 in a 45, and im only 20. I go to court monday. Im hopin they will lower it like two miles an hour, so then I can keep my license. What im going to do is be like yah I fucked up, but if theres anything I can to do keep my license I will do it. Hopefully they will say ok and make me do community service or defensive drivers class. Im also going to mention that I go to school and work full time, maybe Ill get lucky. Ill let you know if my strategy works. My ticket is $171.I think thats pretty low for a ticket price.
