Can some one translate this into english for me.I have a 2000 model acura integra gsr 5 spd. I am not a mechanic by any means and I am trying to do this myself but need a little help. I need to at least find the IAC(Idle air conrol) All help is appreciated Thanks in advance and will give reps:cheers:
This is what the pcm read:
definition:Idle air control valve control cicuit
1. open or short circuit condition
2. poor electrical conection
3. failed IAC motor
next:
Definition:
IAC\ circuit condition or Idle speed higher/lower than expected
explanation:
The ecm has detected that the IAC counts are higher or lower than expected, the engine speed is not in its expected range
Probable causes:
1. vacuum leak on engine
2. dirty throttle body
3. poor electrical connection to the IAC valve.
HELP ME..........:???:

I checked all the hoses going to it and the electrical going to it and everything was fine so I disconected the neg. side of the batt. for a few minutes yo erase the check engine light and I ran it up the road and it hasnt come back on. Do I need to replace it? Also the idle control system? Is that all that the idle control system consists of? the Idle air controller or is there more?

did you check it with a multi meter? to specs?
if disconnected the battery -check engine light off- and if it doesnt come back then your good but if it comes back on after 50-100 miles then you have to diagnos it

I don't know what a multi meter is? Specs?
Try cleaning out the idle air control valve. Sometimes it's just dirty and it'll throw a cel.

i had the same problem.... pull it off and take either some flamable brake/part cleaner or carb cleaner....
you can spray it all day because it evaporates.....
if you have a CAI or a short ram it sometimes gets tiny particles that look like black dust on the inside of the IAC... but its very easy to fix...
and it saves you about 230 from the dealer.... because its a dealer only part and it usually will come back on after 150-250 miles.
on other vehicles yes replacement is necessairy but on hondas all they need is a clean....

Yeah I took it off and the screen was kinda cloged with black dirt or what ever. I hope that cleaning it with denatured alcohol was ok cause I did!:D Yeah these are $245 at the parts store! Sux! Its so little! CAN I SPRAY CLEANER INSIDE OF IT?

yes you can but make sure its dry before you put it back on. Now if the MIL comes back I'm afraid you'll have to replace it.
Well i take that back get a manual and multimeter and check it to specs. before you buy a new one . But the cleaning should do it for you

Well I cleaned it and put it back together and drove it a few miles. Everything seems ok. I was wondering....the two hoses that connect to the bottom? What runs through those? There was a liquid in mine.
