Here is a post I put up on my car club web site. I just thought that I would share it with all my peeps here at IA as well.

Click here to see the damage !!! (http://www.teaminterlude.net/MessageDisplay.asp?MessageID=1984)

I hope there will still be a NOPI this year !

repost!! lol
anyway i quoted this from jamie in the other thread

I was told that since most of the damage happened to buildings that NOPI Nats doesn't even use anyway, that right now it's still on.
i agree with him, as long as the open area isnt damaged the show must go on.

That's all fine and dandy but will AMS let them in w/ it like that?

Well you act like it will still be like that in September, They will have it all cleaned up within a week or two and the rebuilding will start, so by then they will be close to being done

Or they can move the site of the show to somewhere else in atlanta.

I think all will be fine. On the AMS site, they say that yesterdays races and next week races where cancelled for sure but the rest are up in the air. If they think there is a possibility that it will be ok for an event in 2 weeks, I'm sure they can have the whole place ready for NOPI in 2 months! ;)

NOPI will survive, but they wont be having it at AMS. THey have to find a new location ASAP!!

how many other places could contain that show though?

Well, they may just have to go with a smaller venue and limit the amount of cars they let in. Wouldn't neccasarly (spelt that wrong) be a bad thing.

well they said on the news they will be cleaning it up as quickly as possible to get ready for a race in October.. but they still have to get inspectors in their to check structural integrety (sp) of areas on and around the track....

And I own a civic so I'm not showing since their are already enough of my style car there every year...

AMS/Nopi isnt stupid enough to cancel Nats if they could help it.. too much money they make off of it...

Brett

AGAIN!!! NOPI does not use any part of the track but the INSIDE AREA!! Its not hard to understand this, NOPI will go on, because the damage is on the structures not the infield

JC

Yeah, but the question is....will the AMS Insurance company allow them to use it. The insurance company may not allow them to open any part of the AMS until all work is complete and inspected for saftey reasons.

Yeah but with the work going on around the outter track and the cars and people in the inner area, They are not anywhere near the work, But thats a good point, But im sure within the next week or so we will hear for sure either way
