July 22nd

You read right! Drift fury is offering up a free drift event to the first 40 drivers who show up and take us up on it at Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele, GA www.watermeloncapitalspeedway.com Thanks to Santa Willie! He is taking his payouts from NOPI Drift in Miami and paying your way in to drift!

There won't be any pre-registration for this event. It's first come first serve. If you come and don't get in, then I guess you are a spectator :) Which is also free BTW. If you don't like it...to bad..it's free :D

Not really that. We signed a year contract, but after our first event there where we had 2k spectators and they shut us down early because "our event was too big" they asked us for more and more money after that (they said if we were making all of that money, then they needed more money). It just turns out that it's not worth the money they wanted after the first event when we can get AMS for the same price. Turner is not really conducive to a big drift event since it is not a secured lot. It takes a lot of staff and it's very hard work to have an event there. Once we started having events at tracks and other like facilities, we realize how much of a crap deal Turner was. At closed facilities we need like 5 staff members and we bring in a whole lot more money. At Turner, people can just walk in and not pay...which isn't good also because they haven't signed a waiver. At a closed facility we get ALL of the money from each spectator since they can't get passed us without paying.

We travel with our series nationally now and it hasn't been an issue yet. We have had 9 events so far (I think) this year in 8 states (I think). In fact it has made things easier in some respects. When a photographer asks me why he can't be on the track, I tell him about the accident...then all of a sudden they understand with no argument ;)

I would look into who owns the lot, but I wouldn't just set up an event and drift there whithout doing that first and getting permission. Somebody owns everything...:)

If i can get the 86 ready do I get an automatic license ha ha ha I kid I kid. Exactly what license is this and what do you have to do to get it. (Nopi Drift?). I think ill be doing the event the 15th which is a formula D qualifier. Also how does the formula D license work and how many events do you need to get one.

Naaaah I've wanted to drift for a while.. it looks like hella fun. I've known about it for years, but was all hung up on hondas so never considered learning... it's an area of automotive competition that I'm unfamiliar with, and I want to learn... I know autocross and drag racing.. time to learn something new! :)
