Alright so i have a 98 prelude sh. I was pushing the car sorta hard and was in third gear on a slight turn and i was up in like 6.5k rpm. I was trying to put it into 4th and accidentally put it into 2nd. The car rev'd all the way to the end of the red line for like a sec. and i threw it into 5th immediately. The ATTS (active torque transfer light) came on right away. I turned the car off and re-started it and the light was still there. i unplugged the battery and the light went away. The car still drives fine and idles normally. I am still afraid i did some damage to the car. any suggestions on what i should look out for? i was plannin on doing a valve adjustment tomorrow before this happened. so if i bent my valves or threw them out of place that will be fixed tomorrow. hopefully i didin fuck my car up. i did a compression test on the car a month ago and everything came out fine. i may run a compression test again tomorrow to see if i get the same numbers. any comments and suggestions would be appreciated.

There is a difference between hitting the rev limiter and a mechanical overrev. A rev limiter will not stop the car from revving above redline from a forced downshift. I seriously suggest getting a compression/leakdown test as you could drop a valve sometime in the future - it doesn't always happen immediately either.

Do a search for mechanical overrevs.

shit'll buff out. if the car drives normal and idles normal i wouldnt worry about it. if u bent a valve or valves it definitely wouldnt idle normally. u can do a compression test jut to see if u might have had a little contact but ive done that several times with my 1st b16 and u gotta love that whiplash action, tires screaching, and bkue shift light blinging in ur face. lol!!!

I dunno, you might have bent a valve or a few. I down shifted to quickly once but it wasn't too bad. My civic ran perfect when it happened. so, ya neva kno. hopefully nothing bad happened

Don't feel bad because i done the same exact thing and the week following the timing belt broke and i have a 93 jdm h22 in my accord compression test was ok on my motor but it was running funny at idle. The only thing i have to say is get ready to pray and hope ur engine is ok or you will be doing head work or getting a new motor. Honestly i will be rebuilding my head so u know what that means UPGRADE!!!

i can't stop you from tinkering with your motor so if you're already gonna do a compression test, it won't hurt anything, just give you some peace of mind, if it's idling fine then you're good man, be more careful next time & at least you didn't turn out like that guy on the video ROFLMAO!! you were in a turn, he was just going straight HAHAHAHAHA

if u have bent valves it will run like shit. if it runs/drives normal then dont sweat it.

me and a friend checked the valves today and it looked fine. im still not having any problems with the car and it idles fine and revs fine too. thanx for all the comments and suggestions guys.

just check the valve lash. if one is out of whack, then check the compression and leakdown. i doubt you did any damage though if it idles fine.
