So after owning my truck for about a month and a half I realized that I want to go fast again. The 300zx was nice and all but I want high mpg's as well as something a bit lighter. I was thinking a honda/acura but I also want rwd. How many mpg do 240's get usually with an sr swap on them?

But for the question. Can I put a testing waters thread in the for sale section with no price. Really looking for an offer type of situation.

HA! I knew the mpg was gonna get ya with the truck

Sr swap 240s depends on gearing. I had a 6speed sr 240 with big helical final drive that was 300rwhp and got 450miles on the tank. That was the by far the best high way mpg car I ever owned. Nothing like diving 90 @ 3400rpm

But for normal 5speed sr if you keep you stay out of boost, then high 20's or maybe 30mpg or 380-400miles to the tank.

6 speed sr 240

details on how you did that? And I am very interested because I drive highway a hell of a too much and that sounds very nice.

Its an s15 sr that comes with factory 6speed. First 5 gears are short gear ratio, the 6th is HUUUGE.

So could I put that into a s13 hatch and would it match right up to the sr? And would there be a lot of grinding and welding and stuff or is it a straight transmission swap?

I bought a 1990 toyota MR2 for my daily. I got an n/a one with a recently rebuilt motor gets well into 30+ miles a gallon and takes 87 octane.

If you want good gas milage and a fast car--get two cars.

Honestly that's the easiest way to do it. Get something cheap/reliable that gets crazy gas milage on 87 octane. Then build something that gets like 7 miles a gallon on c16 but's fast as hell.

I had mine in an s13 hatch. Its the same as any other sr swap, the only difference is you have to have a custom drive shaft made. but thats only like $150-200 to have made.

Cant afford insurance on two cars and dont have the room for 2.

Ever think about keeping the truck and getting a bike? That should be plenty of speed to keep you satisfied and betetr mileage than you'll get out of any car.

just go to KBB.com and you will get a good idea of what it is worth. usually the lift and tires actually reduces the value.

I would but the insurance on one of those woulkd just make my insurance skyrocket. I wish though. When I have the money im getting one though, so that option is distant.

I have heard people on the site say they are getting around 20mpg on an SR20 swapped 240.

I am sure someone will want to trade you a car for your truck though. Good luck.

Just come to the dark side man...

Honda is where it's at.

I bet you'd like your truck a lot more though, if you took it somewhere else other than DirtyDogs... there's trails allllllll around the neighborhood...especially Twin Chapels road.

how many MPG though??? Im guessing around 20. Im ready for like damn 35 or atleast like 25 or some shit. The 300 only got around 17 or so because I got too pedal happy all the time so I kinda want to stay away from inline 6's. I think 4 banger is the way to go. But might just keep the truck and bear with it for awhile.
