Being military doesn't mean shit - and what if they don't need to feed on people to keep going? What if the only way to kill them was a bullet through the head, where heavy artillery is useless. These were all points brought up in the book ( it's a GREAT novel, with a movie being made off of it )

Awhile back I posted a link to a military silo in the mountains in NY that was a pretty nice facility. Winter = cold = slower moving zombies hopefully.

yea me and my friends have all discussed this numerous times, being zombie apocalypse fans...
so you and 1000 others are all gonna run to the same gun store, find it empty and shit loads of zombies walking around...so you might be fucked just thinkin bout that plan...
the best way is to stock pile your own weapons..

i would also not drive a 18 wheeler cuz once that shit flips over on its side, its useless and zombies are gonna crawl all over...id say like grab your gats, only the closest friends of yours...cuz you dont know if all of them are gonna be infected, and get a boat, drive to the ports of GA, get on the damn boat and go to the atlantic ocean and live off deep sea fishing, and pirating. idk i would definitely pirate for food, fuel and weapons...

also, diehard fans, make sure you bring atleast a zip of some buds, lighters and a bowl or 2...ciggs are also a must thru the stressful times...

preperation is the best key...im not prepared at all..so im just gonna take a few house hold items, and just climb my roof and sit on top...if zombies wanna circle my house, im not gonna move....if death is coming, then damn...

If you get a boat - get a sail boat. Operates off of wind power. Get a map, a compass, and a hand powered HAM radio. Why a HAM Radio? They're cheap, easy to build, great range, reliable, and chances are your only forms of communication that will be prevalent.

A machete is great and all, but I'd rather opt out for a quality samurai ( katana ) blade - make sure it's a combat ready blade, not some joke of a pretty ooh and aah, that, or a monk's spade.

Don't be wearing a suit of armor. You want to be maneuverable. Don't wear baggy clothing either. I have a feeling the south side of Atlanta would be the first place to fall.

If you're going to be hauling around in a semi - jack a gas tanker - one that preferably has diesel for yourself, but if not, you can pawn off the gas for goods like food and weaponry. This is survival we're talking about.

Head towards more isolated less populated regions. Deserts, mountains - the frozen tundra. Always be ready to move at a moments notice - if you establish a place, you run the risk of an outbreak in your immediate vicinity.

Also, after watching the movie Zombie Strippers last night...

capture a few zombie hookers, and make them strip for money and goods. Guys will pay to see boobies no matter what. :D Commerce is still a good thing to keep in mind to survive.

Also, back on the gas tanker - if you DO get one, make sure you recruit/save loyal people who will stick to your side, and create a convoy. You'll be in an apocalyptic world, but keep in mind that not only will you have to be fighting zombies, human survival instinct will kick in and you may very well have to shoot completely uninfected humans. Think of a Madmax world meets Resident Evil/Dawn of the Dead/Land of the Dead.

Use fat people for bait. Unless they have a useful skill, or in some way can contribute to the group, then they get to be bait to distract say a horde whilst you pillage.

Me and my friends have talked about this as well. My friend lives in the middle of no where surrounded by woods. His house is on a raised piece of land. The house could be boarded up rather easily. His dad was also an Army Ranger so there are plenty of guns & ammo plus he has stock piles of canned food in the basement. I think it would work just as long as we didn't run out of supplies.

very good point. grenades and any forms of explosives would of course, be the first and easiest tactic. but they aren't exactly easy to find locally and in large numbers though.
