dont do it

:stupid:

save up your money for a swap instead of dumping money into one of the slowest Honda motors ever.

unless of course you REALLY REALLY ABSOLUTELY want to invest in an 8 valve motor that pushes 70 hp at the crank.

trust me I had a CX w/ a D15B8 and all it did was save gas and nothing more

just my :2cents:

turbo that fucker, the engine itself is worthless you may as well turbo it and beat on it for a minute and have another worthy engine ready to swap in

The ebay kits are garbage. i mean they come with alot of parts, but most of its junk knockoff stuff.

A good QUALITY NAME BRAND KIT is going to run you $2800-3500

if you piece one together, it will run you less if you buy good stuff. Just do NOT skimp on Turbo manifold, Turbocharger, Wastegate, BOV.

I say turbo it, or at least find a D15B7 for $50 and then turbo it. We did a B7 with a little T25 (off a 300z tt) and it made 175whp and 180 ft-lbs. This is about 25whp more then a GSR swap and 65ft-lb more and he spent less money then doing a B swap. Also, if it blows up then just get another B7. Just remember to get a SMALL turbo, something like off a SR20 or Eclipse will work good on a D15. Later.

I'm glad someone knows the potential of the D15b7 around here. Yeah, he could swap all day but 175whp for about a quarter of a cost of a swap, well maybe half, I will take anyday. Let's not forget about ScttyDB. Sometimes you have to get off the bandwagon and see things for yourself. BTW, once I finish my H22CB7 I am rebuilding my D15b7 with Vitara pistons for a turbo. Yeah I could swap but why? :screwy:

Ok, see thats what im talking about man. Ok, question how many pounds were you running on it. Also why not the B8?

PM username liljames, thats the owner of the turbo civic hes talking about.

D series are cool, i mean, they make alot of power compared to your average $4000 GSR swap.

GSR Swap makes 150whp/110-115TQ
Turbo D series makes 180whp/180TQ (T25, 8-9psi)

which ones faster? the D series.

The CX Motor kind sucks just cause its so down on power anyway, but doesnt mean you cant turbo it. THe motor Mainstream is talking about was a 180k mile 93 D15B7 NON VTEC and it ran great for 6 months until the owner turned the boost up an blew his 180k mile motor apart.

but he has a d15B VTEC Motor in it now, and its still rollin around dallas/hiram.

If you need any NEW turbo parts PM me, im a dealer for garrett/precision turbos, tial, megan racing manifold, etc

I loved my d series turbo. I ran my y8 with a t3 at 11 psi, beatin on it for 2 years. It finally gave up on me when the rod bearings spun...

Yes, D series are the shit easy to work on and simple.

Turbo D's are bad ass, but dont turbo a B8, if you do put a 16v head on it make sure you got the 16 valve pistons first though obviously ;)

8psi on a stock bottom end is pretty reliable just get it tuned

apparently u dont know how cheap it is to build a solid d and beat the hell out of some b's and h's. u pay less for a built sohc than u do a completely stock b or h series

dyno tuning is usually $140/hr at most shops. it would take 1-1 1/2 hours. 2 tops.

i had my 4dr d series boosted wit a ebay kit.dont ever by one of those ss auto chrome manifolds, its like they made outta aluminium foil.but besides that my shit ran fine and pulled hard as hell in 1st,2nd and 3rd gear. i have a t3/t4 50 trim turbo but its to dam big to much lag. but like charles(main stream performance) said a t25 is the ideal turbo size

Vitara pistons good for 25psi. check out d-series.com. FJT is one of the pioneers of the Vitara pistons and has been supplying them for some years now to several sites.

If you do get an ebay kit, make sure you get the oil restrictor. My teg that had the "killer series" kit or w/e its called, but it cause the seals to blow. Other than that it wasn't bad. On 6 psi I could bake 1st and 2nd and pull hard as hell in 3rd. But yeah, keep an eye on the wastegate/BOV

turbo D < turbo B
price of t-D > price of just a B

miro_gt

turbo D < turbo B
price of t-D > price of just a B

you can't make statements just like that.

it all depends on too many variables, which can easily turn both of those to the opposite
