removing wheel studs honda

anyone ever removed the wheels studs from the front an EK. will i really have to take the spindle to a machine shop? :???: :???:

Are you saving them? or replacing them?? I beat mine out with a hammer to put new ones in. Pretty sure if you turn it to the righht spot or something like that, they'll come all the way out.

usually they have a spot groved out where you can knock it out. but i cant find a spot on mine. there is no space behind to knock it out. it hits the hub. and its already broken so i know putting the good one back in wont work

4" grinder, Make one. Shouldn't take much.

96-00 Civics are really complicated with that. From what I heard, you'll need to press it out, dissemble, reassemble, and press back in. Some shops who have had experience in replacing 96-00 Civic studs quoted me over 150. My cousin says he'll fix mine on Sunday, I'll see if I can help you if you still need it then.

I usually press the hub out when I do them at the shop, takes a little time. But much easier in the long run.

Lol, that's pretty accurate, I don't know why, but so many Civics have their front passenger studs broken. I even tried a slide hammer, no luck, like on Honda-tech. I'll leave it to my cousin, he hasn't let me down before.

i used a slide hammer and pulled the hub off. then you hammer out the studs and hammer in the new ones. i rented my slide hammer at autozone for like $40

I tried a slide hammer, it doesn't work, it apparently works for 92-95 Civics and 94-01 Integras, but not 96-00 Civics.

yeah, newer civics you have to take the hub off and have the bearings pressed back in.. BUT...if you take a grinder and grind half the flat part off the stud, you hace just knock it out.

Hey, my cousin fixed my broken stud problem today. What he did was exactly just like the thread on Honda-tech. Sorry, but I do not have the link. What you would have to do different is use a much bigger slide hammer, the one at Autozone will not do. The one he used was about 3 feet long and much heavier. The only tricky part is putting it back in. But if you have air tools, it should be no problem. LMK if you have questions. That shit was pissing me off too.

one time i ripped the splines in the hub and the lugnut was still attached...so the stud was freely spinning with lug nut attached! sorry had to share my crazy experience..

one time i ripped the splines in the hub and the lugnut was still attached...so the stud was freely spinning with lug nut attached! sorry had to share my crazy experience..Had two ARP lugs strip out in the hub with the lugs on...it's a MAJOR bitch to get off when that happens :tongue: Only took about 30 minutes to take the entire spindle off and good ole Autofab assisted me with jamming a pry bar between the hub and spindle then use their impact to snatch the lugs.

On the later model hubs there is a circlip on there that prevents it from coming out, most people don't realize it ;)

i tried to get them to do some exhaust work for me but they never got back to me. went up there for a quote and everything. but never got that call. i am sure it was a one time situation.

I just had the same bearings placed back in, is anything wrong with that?yeah, you'll probably be pulling it back apart and replacing it pretty soon ;) naw, it may work fine but normally they don't cooperate once being pulled apart and put back in -- it might be weeks or months before a vibration is noticed...then you have about 50 miles to go before you're rockin -4° camber and more broken studs :2cents:
