i'm going w/ RS*R ExMag it been the quietest i've found but very expensive and it doesn't hurts your overall performance.

i'm looking to get custom 2 inch exhaust from the cat to the muffler. I have a racing styler muffler so it's all ready loud. The thing was hand made by some guy in his garage... thats what i was told anyway. lol

I dont mean to thread jack, but for a DOHC ZC, 2 inch exhaust and a racing muffler, should i get a "turbo resonator"? i've only heard resonator named by their size... so can sum1 explain if i should need a "turbo resonator" and what makes a turbo one different. I do want my exhaust to be quieter than it is now, but i want it to have a nice deep sound when i get on it.

I have the Tanabe Hyper Medallion on my EF - they do not sell it anymore but they do have a replacement at Tanabe.

Here is a pic of the exhaust I did on my hatch. I have never liked the way you can see the mufflers and piping on the EF's. I cut out the spare tire compartment and boxed it back in to hide the muffler. This car has full 3in mandrel bent with a 4"x9"x18" muffler and 14" resenator. I now have black turndowns for the tips.

I will also post pics of the exhaust on my 4dr EF tomorrow. Later.

I have apexi world sport:

Not too loud under normal driving conditions, and sounds great at wide open throttle

You usually get what you pay for in exhausts. It's goes through crazy temp extremes - all the weather, mud, and rain. Replacing/patching cheap exhaust parts twice a year is common w/ lower quality stuff. Just get something decent - doesn't have to be titatnium, but get a respected product.

yeah i know i got a true apexi N1 axle back on the teg with high quality pipes from a good muffler shop i know in forest park did a great job had it dont in 01 and not a leak anywhere so im def going back there just need another good exhaust i guess and just wanted to get some examples of some cause all the hatches i see all have the follow the leader N1 replica when i got it for my teg everyone was on the tanabe super and hyper medallion i love the sound of it but damn its loud as shit and i want this car to be kinda quiet almost like a stock 350z or G35 sound omg yeah just like that i love the exhaust sound of those cars

LOL. HA HA. Then you will like the Tanabe Touring Medallion - under 93db. Also the Borla stuff is very quiet.

Why would you guys spend all that money on a name exhaust w/ a high flow cat (does nothing) when you could get custom piping which is just as good for less?

To me, you're buying a name. You dont gain that much horse power between different exhausts...

i just dont want one that sounds like a lawnmower. and like the saying goes you get what you pay for. what do you have on yours right now zc hatch?

I'm about to just get 2 inch custom piping from the cat to the muffler. right now i have nothing but a REALLY nice muffler. lol bought it from a mexican and i guess he didn't feel like he needed to get exhaust...?

I did the motor swap and i've been paying that off for a good long time so i never had the money to get any other upgrades, but the motor is now all paid off so i can finally do other stuff to the car.

So basically, just custom 2 inch exhaust, from the cat to the muffler. getting ti from Paul's Custom Exhaust. He does good work.

Why not 2.25?

C_R_X
06-04-2007, 01:15 PM
I don't think I can be much help because my exhaust is a custom 3in straight pipe to a turbo muffler LOL. Loud as shit.

everything i've read tells me that 2 inch is prefect for a D series. ZC :)

I just want mine to be quieter too, that muffler i have is soooo loud.

zc trust me go with 2.25!

BABY J
06-04-2007, 07:00 PM
That's why I asked him what size - didn't wanna argue w/ him - lol.

Papa_Smurf
06-04-2007, 10:00 PM
why go with 2 1/4? Everything i've read says 2, exhaust guy says 2, you all say 2.25...

throw me sum reasoning as to why i should, not just saying "go 2.25" lol

That shit is allready loud enough, i'm hoping this "turbo resonator" he recommends will quiet it down some...

lol that first thread the guy was running 270+ hp... ;)

BABY J

You missed the entire point of the threads - bottom line is that 2.25 > 2. LOL. Feel free to do your own research and reach the conclusion that hundreds of others on H-T already have. ;) But at the end of the day - it's your car and as long as you are happy with it go for 2.

Papa_Smurf
06-06-2007, 09:39 AM
i mean, how much difference would i see from a stock DOHC ZC motor between 2 and 2.25.... I doubt you could even tell.
