YOU fixed the timing - but you do not know where a distributor is. FURTHERMORE you want a shop who PAYS for state certification to do emissions to openly post that they do under the table emissions...

Back on topic -

1) disconnect neg batter terminal for 5 mins.

2) while u are waiting, disconnect the ECU totally from the car.

3) afterwards, inspect the dizzy plug for any disconnected or burned through wiring. The wires should be soft and pliable (bendable). OBD0 swaps have been on the road so long that the dizzy wires (due to heat) could be getting hard/brittle and less conductive to electricity. Re-solder and re-pin any/all wires that have gotten hard.

4) inspect harness plugs that plug into the ECU. Make sure that none of the wires have fallen out of the pins.

5) connect ecu back to the harness, ensuring that you feel/hear the "click" from the tab

6) turn the key to "run" position (until the fuel pump primes) and then start. After warm-upm see if the car will rev over 4k rpms.. if so, FIXED.

I knew that. I am a genius. Also make sure you have a recent oil change. Believe it or not, when your oil is toasted the obd0 ECU will not let the car rev over 4k as well.

i dont think its the oil....cus it had an oil change bou t 300 miles ago....unless something terrible caused the oil to burn up....but ill check that also.....but do u know about the cat?

I will see what I can do - I have lived in Indianapolis since August 06 - (no emissions here) so I gotta see if he is still in the business.
