blah, evoX will be a piece of shit with a sport shift tranny. If it takes Chrysler, Mitsubishi, hyundai and some other company to design 1 car you know that none of their R&D teams are good enough to create a car worth having.

The evo 8 has the nasty cheese wedge in the front bumper. The 9 RS is where its at.

Get the 7. It's the lightest and fastest. It has the ACD and the AYC = more power to the ground and better handling. The ACD started in the USDM Evos in, I think '05. The only thing is, the 7 doesn't have OBD II, so if you live in a county that requires emissions, it might be difficult. However, if you can figure a way around that, the money is better spent. I may know of someone who can pull one into the country, if you are interested. PM me if you are, and I will give you his contact info.

This is just my opinion. As far as price ...if you are limited on that than I would say stick with Evo8. I was at the time so thats why I have an 8 and still loving it. Good luck.

Id say go for the following in this order.. Top being most wanted on my list to the bottom. Again this is just IMO with my :2cents: . So take a look but in the end go with what makes you happy bro.

look man, koffebean on here ran 12.5 in his evo 9 RS with just a DP and catback.

be smart, get a evo 9 RS, put a CD player in it and automatic windows

then do turboback exhaust, flashed ECU and a manual boost controller. with thoose 5 things u will have the comfort of a non RS evo spending thousands of dollars less and be able to walk 90% of whats on the road then take it to the track if u want a run VERY low 12's.

i wouldnt get the MR cause the price differance isnt justified for what u get in my opinion. with the MR u get leather seats. but the thing is u can buy a RS and put auto windows in it, a CD player and a wing on it and save ALOT of money, i have 2 friends that have done that. the MR also has HID's where the RS doesnt but u can get some of thoose also. what u wont have is the leather seats and u wont have a 6speed, but the mitsu 5 speed tranny is better than their 6 speed tranny anyways.

so yeah the MR is "better" but u can make the RS just as good and save like 5 thousand dollars. trust me i have seen to good friends do it, its not hard at all.

Does the rs have the different traction settings for tarmac, gravel, and mud that the mr does?

if your goals are 450-500 then youll need a bigger turbo. If your gonna stay on stock turbo just get a 9. But dont get the mr's because the trannys arent as strong as the 5 speeds. If you have lots of questions just pm me or something.

yeah they have the same power but the MR has the 6speed, which isnt a good thing, like what wickedmrxi said.

if ur gonna stay stock turbo and are looking for like 350-375whp get 9, if u want more ur gonna have to upgrade turbo and do cams so just go ahead and get an 8 cause really the only differance is a slightly bigger exhaust side on the turbo and the cams in the 9, but if ur gonna be replacing the cams and turbo why pay more for a 9 when u can get a 8 and use the money u saved to make power.

Wrong. The hotside of a 05 evo 8 is the same hotside as the 06 evo 9. The difference is the compressor housing. Also the 9 has mivec. Also the mr's and rs's have lsd.

Actually, you are wrong. I have done my research and know what I am talking about. Mitsu did change the gear ratios and although I was wrong when I said it was the exact same gearing it is similiar

Evo 8 and Evo 9 trannies do have different ratio's... most specifically the 1st on an IX is stronger and VERY slightly longer (not enough to really care)... and the 4th on an VIII is a bit taller. The 5th on the IX's have a different input shaft and several later production VIII's have variants of the 5th input shaft. There's a lot more to than too when it comes to just trannies... I know all this from talking to Jon Ripple for half an hour. That guy's a genius.

Evo VII is a retarded idea. We live in the USA... but then again, you have pockets deep enough to make the Grand Canyon jealous.

Buy my Evo and run the car on WG pressure, 87 oct, and pull out all the timing... you might make the 450whp goal you want then... otherwise, I'd get an Evo IX SE... they look the nicest stock and you can fart on an IX and make 400whp.

Actually, an evo 7 is not a retarded idea, if you can deal with the emissions. They're not that expensive, and you could probably get one for about the same price that USDM versions are going for, at least the newer ones. I am no evo expert, by all means, but I know that the 7 is a bad mf. Even the seat bolsters are narrower for tiny japanese asses ;)
