Would have thought they would have given it the LS4 303 bhp and 323 ft·lbf of Torque motor in it.
*Heres a little info on the G8*
"The G8 will be available in two trims: base and the GT. The base G8 will be available with a 261 hp (194 kW) 3.6 L DOHC VVT V6 engine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V6_engine), standard with a 5-speed automatic. The GT will come with a 362 hp (270 kW)[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pontiac_G8#_note-2) 6.0 L Generation IV V8 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V8_engine), featuring a 6-speed automatic and Active Fuel Management (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Active_Fuel_Management) as standard, capable of reaching 60 mph(100 km/h) in under 5 seconds. A 6-speed manual will be made optional on the GT. The cars will come standard with 6 airbags, including full-length side curtain airbags, 18 inch alloy wheels, sports body kit, power-adjustable front seats, cloth seats and a 7-speaker audio system, featuring a satellite radio system. An optional sports package will be available, containing 19 inch alloys with performance tires, upgraded sports suspension, 11-speaker stereo with six-stacker CD system, color display screen featuring climate control & audio functions, leather-bound steering wheel and alloy pedals. GT interiors will be available with the choice of a two-tone interior that will match black with either red or blue."

I actually like how GM is thinking now.... RWD. I've been watching the new G6 RWD Chassis in the SPEED GT class, and its nice to see GM tapping into HOLDEN to make some better for the US..... the GTO was great, wish it would have been more popular.

The problem with the GTO was it had such a bland appearance. It looked like a oversized Cavalier, and Pontiac failed to make it look aggressive even after the redesign(makeover) it didn't help. They should've put the one that engineers put together out of spare parts into production.

I'm not a fan of the grill, hood, and spoiler on the G6 GXP. A friend of mine has a G6 GTP and it looks much cleaner.

Too bad the G8 has been canned... Rear drive G6 chassis? I haven't heard of that. I doubt they will be developing any new rear drive cars for a very long time. If they ever bring the Camaro, that will pretty much be it.
Oh yeah- there is way too much cladding on that car for it to even look decent. It can't touch a G35 or G37 on any level.

The G8 plans have stopped?
Ah, since I won't be able to get a GTO...I was thinking about getting a G8 later on.
You guys know me and the GTO...I LOVE that car.

I loved the new GTOs... when I got rid of my first S2000, I thought about getting one. GM definitely put the brakes on the new rear drive platform they were developing. Sad but true.

Shit, then I might just go back and try to get a GTO when I can...granted gas isn't $7.00 a gallon.

Looks a lot like the new Acura TL TypeS...its nice...but id take the TL TypeS
sprix!

It would be a tough call, but I would probably take the G8 because the TL-S is wrong wheel drive. WAY too much power going to the front only.
