Angled pictures...

Why do photographers do this? I'm only speaking for myself, but I think it looks like shit. Honestly. I don't like having to turn my neck to one side or another to see a picture. I don't understand the reasoning of it so I'm asking what purpose does it serve.

my aviator picture is total angled, hahaha. but its ok, i took the picture just messing around one day. i wasn't trying to be pro photographer or anything. i just love it when people take angled pics and it looks like total shit, but they think they are pro's since they just took a angled pic.

I'll do it occasionally to get a wider field of view. If you think about it, the diagonal is wider the sides of the rectangle.

I have told people that do it, that it looks like crap in there threads. A slight angle can work sometimes but most of the time they get to extreme with it like dudes avatar in this thread, and think its cool! Gives me a headache and hurts my eyes!

Honestly i take angled shots every now and then because to me it gives certain pictures some kind of character.. There is no reason to do it with every single picture though.. But honestly i have seen photographers put way too much angle on their pics to the point it becomes obnoxious because you have to damn near tilt your whole damn head to see the pic.. My shots can be generally enjoyed with your head straight..

It's been said already, but Ima repeat for good measure just because......

If you have to crane your neck to see it or figure out what it is.....it's TOO much. Extreme angles are gay, period.

Now, I've seen some cool ass pics with some aggressive angles too. All of those pics had someone behind the camera that had a REASON for putting in an angle to that particular shot. Maybe the background made it cooler, maybe they wanted an optical illusion, maybe it just worked for that particular (and only that particular) picture.

Anyway, bottomline is that QD and the rest of the guys are right. Too much angle ruins otherwise good pics the majority of the time. Sometimes the original pic, even w/o angles, sucks too but that's another whole subject.... :D

Cause we are use to posting pics and then saying please critique(spl) them. I love when someone tells me stuff I need to change or do differently to my photos, it just makes you better!
