I know it sounds shitty but does anyone know if a 97 civic dx transmission can bolt up to a 99 USDM B16 motor :offtopic: I am also a newb to this forum.

But I know a guy with an LX tranny bolted to a B16 and its a D series

Not possible sir. MOST if not ALL B-Series parts will interchange; then D-Series goes the same way.

Then there's also Cable & Hydraulic trannys also.

The B16 does have a hydraulic transmission. In case you didn't know both the the Si, Dx, and Lx models have shift linkages thus hydraulic. Cars like the integra and prelude have cable operated transmissions. My question is not if it will work. My question if it will bolt up.

Yes, I know 99-00 Si have Hydro Trans. BTW, shift linkages have nothing to do with what makes it either Cable or Hydro. FYI, 94+ Integras all have Hydro Trans. And NO it will not bolt up foo.

I looked into the same shit before, but looking for gas mileage b/c the D series trans seemed to have an airplane gear for 5th. lol. I'm looking to find a trans for my B16, that'll have 1-4 the same as what they are now, or roughly close, then have a high speed 5th gear for low RPM's on the highway.

the bellhousing bolt patterns are completely different between a d-series and b-series. it wont work without an adapter plate of some sort that i dont believe exists and probably never will

just use a LS 5th gear in a gsr/type r tranny... 5th gear in a ls is .714, gsr is .787, type r is .848. the jdm ITR uses the same 5th gear as the LS, but the jdm type r has a fd of 4.785, where the LS has a fd of 4.266. the usdm type r has a fd of 4.400, same as GSR.
